The D.C. Council
Today the U.S. District Court Judge endorsed a $5.1
million settlement of a class-action suit against the District of Columbia for
violating the rights of a shit-ton of law abiding gun owners.
Six
specific members of the class were arrested and held at least overnight
and had their guns confiscated when they were driving into D.C. from
areas where they had legit gun permits. None tried to conceal the fact
that they had a gun. One of them had his gun locked in a safe in the
trunk of his car. One of the six lost his job. Another almost lost his
security clearance, which if it happened would have lost him his job.
Each of the six is getting $300,000. The rest of the pot is being split up between members of the class and the lawyers.
Maybe if this happens more the warm-and-fuzzy legislatures will decide that it is getting expensive to virtue signal.
