California State Treasurer Fiona Ma
Fiona
Ma is the Treasurer of the formerly great state of California. She is
now on the receiving end of a trial for sexual harassment. The original
beef also contained an allegation of wrongful termination and racial
discrimination. The suit was initially filed in July of 2021. It will
now go to trial on the sexual harassment charge only unless the
settlement conference scheduled for Wednesday bears fruit. The other
charges were dismissed by judge Christopher Krueger.
Judith
Blackwell, formerly a relatively high-ranking civil service employee in
the treasurer's office, filed the suit. She asserts that Ma often
rented a hotel room in Sacramento when working late. Blackwell asserts
that Ma would summon her to the bedroom, flash her ass at her and climb
onto Blackwell's bed with her. It was apparently not unusual for Ma to
share a room with a staffer, allegedly in order to save money.
California State Treasurer Fiona Ma administers the oath of office to Judith Blackwell in 2019. Ma's lawyer is describing Blackwell as a disgruntled former employee.
Ma
had previously been on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and had
been a member of the state assembly. She was elected to be treasurer in
2018 and has expressed interest in the Lt. Governor's spot in 2026.
