This little morality play went down just after 10:00 a.m.
at the Cash For Gold MSM Jewelry shop in Oakland at 41st and International Blvd (Telegraph
Ave) on Monday. The young clerk had just opened up a few minutes
earlier when he saw a car park really funny right in front of the
store. Spider sense turned on. Good situational awareness. Two guys
wearing hoodies and masks and carrying pistols with extended magazines
RUN into the store shouting. The clerk took up a position of cover
behind the door frame to the back room and drew his own gat, then opened
fire. Bad guys beat a very hasty retreat. One of them actually ran
out of his shoes. Probably one bad guy wounded (out of 8 shots fired at
the bad guys, not all that great). Then the bad guy who was maybe
wounded was hit by his own get away car driven by a third bad guy.
The
cops took the clerk's gun as part of the investigation. The clerk
said, "That's OK. I own more than one." As far as the cops are
concerned, the shooting is good.
The bad guys threw a lot of lead when they came under fire but didn't hit anything but walls.
