The sudden death of Police Chief Gaglione - who had held the position for nearly a decade - has left both the department and town of less than 1,500 fractured and in danger of not having adequate emergency responses
I gather that Big Bend,
Wisconsin, is a nice little burg. Their Chief of Police, Don Gaglione, committed suicide in October. One day last week half of the remaining cops, one
sergeant and four officers, resigned, citing a toxic work environment.
The village now has only six cops, only one of which is full time.
Previously the town had 12 officers, three of which were full time.
The
officers had left assert they had also been told the Fire and Police
Commission was being dissolved. Unnamed sources at the P D assert this
is false.
All of the part-time officers who left also work at other agencies.
The details of the "toxic work environment" were not made public.
My
GUESS, for what that might be worth, is that the old chief was a pretty
good guy and did as good job of running the department and whoever is
running it now is an incompetent or a dick or both.
