In Zimmerman’s play, the Nazi Jew hunters have been replaced by ICE agents and the Frank family will be a Latino mother and her two daughters hiding from the evil ICE agents who are hunting for illegal aliens and have already deported her husband.
How utterly disgusting! The changes will be sickening to most Jews, especially to the few remaining Holocaust survivors. Any reasonable person would think that Zimmerman could have come up with an original play that has no semblance whatsoever to the story of Anne Frank. But no, the filthy schweinehund capitalized on a true story of Jewish persecution by the Nazis.

Danueal Drayton. 27, of New Haven, CT. had been a guest of the people in New York. He was released by the judge on his own recognizance after choking, but not murdering, someone. He then went on to rape one woman and murder another. He has admitted to five other murders and several assaults. He says the voices made him do it.
Nassau County officials are trying to figure out why information on his prior criminal record was (allegedly) not made available to Judge Erica Prager as the info was in the NCIC data base.

Yes, there is a move to introduce, or more properly reintroduce, shared ride (rental) electric scooters in the People's Republic of San Francisco. It seems that there is a real fear the 50-year old white guys with bad knees and man buns will hurt themselves by being stupid and falling off the damn things.
The scooters, which can do up to 15 mph depending on how much of a lard-ass the passenger is, cost $1 plus 15 cents per mile to rent. You use a smart phone app to unlock and rent them. The medicos in S. F. say they are getting 5-10 significant injuries per week from these things.
Adult riders may legally ride without a helmet and they may be ridden in the street where the speed limit is 35 or less.
Now they need to rig up an onboard smart phone app that will let you monitor and steer around the piles of human shit on the sidewalks there while you are riding.

Speaking to a historically black college, she delivered what she called 'the hard truth about our criminal justice system: It's racist ... front to back.'
The Massachusetts senator identified some of the system's failures: disproportionate arrests of African-Americans for petty drug possession; an overloaded public defender system; and state laws that keep convicted felons from voting even after their sentences are complete.
She made the comments at Dillard University in New Orleans.
Warren later told the meeting Friday that President Donald Trump has helped wealthy corporate interests fight consumer protections, minimum wage laws and other initiatives to benefit workers by fostering racism, xenophobia and homophobia while 'winking at white supremacists.'
The event was also attended by Sen. Kamala Harris of California, who picked up on the theme and said racial divisions were being exploited by Russian 'cyber warfare.'
Harris also called for a 'tooth and nail' Senate fight to reject Trump's nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, rejecting the idea that it's a useless fight in the Republican-controlled Senate.
'Damn right it's worth the fight,' she said.
Democrats in the Senate plan to begin meeting with Kavanaugh when they start returning to Washington in mid-August.
A senior Democratic aide said Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee tasked with holding hearings for Kavanaugh, will be among those meeting with him.
This comes after weeks that they refused to meet with him.
Only one Democratic senator, Joe Manchin of West Virginia, has met with Kavanaugh as lawmakers sparred over access to records from the nominee's time as White House staff secretary under President George W. Bush.
The stop is the latest sign of Warren's effort to forge ties beyond her largely white political base in Massachusetts.

Surveillance footage obtained by The Post shows the moment an off-duty NYPD sergeant shoots a Brooklyn man with whom he’d been feuding over a woman.
The nearly minute-long clip begins with the cop, Sgt. Ritchard Blake, appearing to argue with Thavone Santana under the elevated Livonia Avenue train tracks in East New York around 5 a.m. Thursday.
As the spat escalates, Blake pulls out a gun, Santana recoils and starts to turn away, then falls to the ground on his right side, the video shows.
The clip then shows the 40-year-old cop pacing around Santana for a few seconds before bending down to place an object — which law enforcement sources said is a knife — next to his torso.
Blake turns his back on the 21-year-old victim, appearing to hold his cellphone to his ear, before turning back to Santana and picking up the apparent knife before the video cuts out.
When his fellow cops showed up, Blake told them that Santana had tried to rob him, sources said.
But the two men already knew each other, and had an ongoing dispute over a woman — who shares a 10-year-old son with Blake, according to sources.
Santana, shot once in the jaw, underwent multiple surgeries and is expected to survive.
Blake, assigned to the 109th precinct in Queens, has been stripped of his gun and badge pending an investigation.

The current memorial to the 900,000 Jews who were killed at Treblinka between 1941 and 1944 is a symbolic graveyard with boulders bearing the names of places in Europe where the victims lived before they were sent to the camp in occupied Poland.
The Nazis operated multiple gas chambers at Treblinka, considered the deadliest Nazi camp after Auschwitz.
During the Aug. 2, 1943 revolt, prisoners took guns from a storeroom and attacked camp guards. About 300 inmates managed to escape, but fewer than 100 avoided being caught and survived.

Texas waitress frames Freestone County Sheriff’s employee for racial slur

A waitress at a Texas restaurant claimed that an area law enforcement employee scribbled a racial slur against Hispanics on a meal receipt. However, a county sheriff’s immediate investigation revealed the whole thing was a hate hoax. Now, that sheriff is speaking out.
Freestone County Sheriff Jeremy Shipley said he received a complaint on Monday night in which a waitress working at a Waco Japanese restaurant accused an unidentified employee of the Sheriff’s Office of writing “a racist remark on a check against the Hispanic community.”
The alleged “hate” message was posted online. However, it appears to have been removed, although KWTX obtained the image. Some words are scribbled and others are crossed out or redacted. Still, the word “Mexicans” is legible.
Shipley took this complaint very seriously, according to a press release provided to Breitbart Texas by the Sheriff’s Office. “As Sheriff of Freestone County, I wanted to personally make sure I received all the information pertaining to a complaint of this nature on one of my employees and that’s why it was me knocking on doors,” he wrote, emphasizing he “will not tolerate nor employ any person(s) that I know to be of racial mind or intentions.”
The sheriff also stated, “We would rather spread love than hate and that’s exactly what I also expect from my office.”
On Tuesday, he met with the restaurant’s owner described as “very cooperative and willing to assist in any way possible through the investigation.” Shipley also reviewed surveillance video footage, compared the handwriting on the customer’s bill against different sources, and gathered additional information. Then, with assistance from the McGregor Police Department, sat down with the unidentified waitress.
“During the conversation with the waitress, the waitress confessed to writing the racial comment on the ticket herself due to being upset that day,” stated Shipley. “The waitress confirmed that she took the ticket book containing the ticket from the customers at the table, went into the restroom, and hand wrote, herself, on the receipt the racial comment.”
He added: “The waitress advised that she was sorry for what she did and advised that she didn’t know it would create this type of problem.”
Apparently, the post went viral. It remains unclear what triggered her to forge a “racist” remark or attempt to pin the false claim on a sheriff’s office employee. Nonetheless, Shipley was not pleased.
“The character and integrity of this employee and my office has been attacked based on a lie that spread through social media,” he said, noting the stress endured by the accused employee. “Our employee and the immediate family have received numerous hate messages from this fabricated lie.”
The sheriff called the community “great” and was “hopeful” that some of the same people who were “so mean and hateful without fact checking” would apologize “now that the facts of this unfortunate situation” have come to light.
“My employee did not deserve this, nor does my office or any law enforcement agency in this state or across America,” wrote Shipley. “This is a perfect time to remind people that just because it’s on social media doesn’t make it true.”
On Wednesday, the manager of the Fuji Japanese Steak House told Breitbart Texas they fired the waitress. He stated, “We cannot tolerate racism and we will not tolerate falsely accusing someone of being racist.”
He said the restaurant also fired a second server responsible for posting the faked receipt onto Facebook. He stated when management confronted this individual she “refused to take it down.”
The manager was, understandably, upset when speaking to Breitbart Texas as he pointed out the nefarious actions of these two fired employees impacted the restaurant’s business and reputation as well.
The Waco hoax followed an Odessa waiter’s claim that he was stiffed on a tip by a customer who called him a “terrorist” on the restaurant check. Breitbart Texas reported that, too, was a hoax. The waiter admitted he made up the entire story and forged the writing on the receipt. He said he was “sorry” and indicated he would return any money received from sympathetic people who believed his social media post. Reportedly, he was fired from his job.

LYNCHBURG DAM MAY FAIL

The College Lake Dam near Lynchburg, VA. has been overtopped due to heavy recent rain and is at imminent risk of failure. If the dam goes it could dump 17 feet of water into parts of Lynchburg in less than ten minutes.
There has not yet been any sign of any actual structural failure, but overtopping is not good for any dam. About six inches of rain fell in just a few hours, overwhelming the capacity of the reservoir. A couple of hundred homes in the immediate flood plane have been evacuated so if it does go the loss of life should be minimal, if any, though the property damage will be significant.

4 California dentists accused of raping woman at Las Vegas Strip hotel

Four California dentists, including three brothers, face sexual assault charges after a woman accused them of raping her at a Las Vegas Strip hotel last weekend.
Ali Badkoobehi, 30, Saman Edalat, 39, Sina Edalat, 34, and Poria Edalat, 30, were arrested Saturday after a woman reported to Wynn Las Vegas security that she had been raped, according to police records. All four men are licensed dentists in Southern California, according to Dental Board of California records.
The woman told police that she met Badkoobehi in a nightclub early Saturday before he asked her to his suite to continue drinking, according to Badkoobehi’s arrest report. On the way to the room, Badkoobehi kissed and hugged her, the woman told police.
She told investigators that Badkoobehi pushed her onto a chair and got on top of her a short while after they entered the suite. That’s when multiple men started coming from a bedroom within the suite and took turns raping her while holding her down, according to the report.
The woman tried to resist the assault, “but she was too intoxicated and overwhelmed because of how many people were attacking her and she could not fight back,” the report said.
The attack then continued in another room of the suite while one man stood in a doorway, she told police.

Four California dentists, including three brothers, face sexual assault charges after a woman accused them of raping her at a Las Vegas Strip hotel last weekend.
Ali Badkoobehi, 30, Saman Edalat, 39, Sina Edalat, 34, and Poria Edalat, 30, were arrested Saturday after a woman reported to Wynn Las Vegas security that she had been raped, according to police records. All four men are licensed dentists in Southern California, according to Dental Board of California records.
The woman told police that she met Badkoobehi in a nightclub early Saturday before he asked her to his suite to continue drinking, according to Badkoobehi’s arrest report. On the way to the room, Badkoobehi kissed and hugged her, the woman told police.
She told investigators that Badkoobehi pushed her onto a chair and got on top of her a short while after they entered the suite. That’s when multiple men started coming from a bedroom within the suite and took turns raping her while holding her down, according to the report.
The woman tried to resist the assault, “but she was too intoxicated and overwhelmed because of how many people were attacking her and she could not fight back,” the report said.
The attack then continued in another room of the suite while one man stood in a doorway, she told police.

The case against Kenneth Christopher Lopera was dropped Thursday after a grand jury refused to induct the former officer in the death of 40-year-old Tashii Farmer Brown last May.
Prosecutors will in coming weeks publicly air in a non-court venue 'very similar if not the exact same evidence' that was presented in secret to grand jurors, Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson said.
The case spawned community protests and a federal excessive force and wrongful death lawsuit on behalf of Brown's children that is pending.
The dismissal of state charges was hailed by Lopera's legal and union representatives, who had sent to the grand jury in recent months evidence that Brown died of cardiac arrest and methamphetamine intoxication, not a chokehold.
That was to rebut a Clark County coroner finding last year that Brown's death was a homicide resulting from 'asphyxia due to police restraint,' with an enlarged heart and methamphetamine in Brown's system as 'significant contributing conditions.'
'We're happy the DA finally recognized the weaknesses in the case and did the right thing,' said David Roger, a former elected district attorney in Las Vegas who represented Lopera on behalf of the Las Vegas Police Protective Association.
Andre Lagomarsino, attorney for Brown's mother, Trinita Farmer, said he'll ask the FBI to open a criminal civil rights investigation against Lopera, who was dismissed from the Las Vegas police force last September following an internal affairs probe that found he violated department use-of-force policies.
'What about Tashii Farmer (Brown) posed a threat from the moment Kenneth Lopera encountered him to the moment he squeezed the life out of him?' Lagomarsino said outside the courtroom. 'When somebody is on their back with their hands up, what makes you think you can Taze somebody? When somebody is not resisting, what makes you think you can beat them up and choke them?'
Video from Lopera's body camera and casino security views showed Lopera using a stun gun on Brown seven times, punching him more than 10 times and putting him in what police called an unapproved chokehold for more than a minute.
Lagomarsino characterized Brown's mother and family as suffering during the long and inconclusive state court legal process.
Lopera had been the first Las Vegas police officer to face a manslaughter charge since 1990 in a city where police shootings and uses of force drew criticism and led to reform recommendations in 2012 from the U.S. Justice Department's Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.
The former officer could have faced up to eight years in prison if he had been convicted of involuntary manslaughter and oppression under color of office.
'Prosecutions should be made in public so there's transparency,' Lagomarsino said. 'From the community standpoint, it's never in the best interest of transparency to do things in secret.'
Lopera has never testified about Brown's death. Police union official Steve Grammas said Lopera, now 32 and living in Wood Ridge, New Jersey, will not take part in the public airing of the case.
Such oversight proceedings were created by county law in 2013 to replace coroner's inquests following deaths of people during encounters with police. Officers had sued to stop inquests, arguing that they were being subjected to unconstitutional questioning that could lead to criminal charges.
Las Vegas NAACP President Roxann McCoy, who met this week with Wolfson, credited the district attorney with taking the case to the public. But she said she also wants the FBI to investigate whether Brown's civil rights were violated.
Brown grew up in Hawaii, where records show he was convicted of assaulting his girlfriend and was released from prison in January 2016, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported. He pleaded guilty in February in Las Vegas to misdemeanor driving under the influence.

A Texas man who has been sitting on death row for seven years for molesting then killing his three-month-old son, says he's 'ready to accept' his death.
Travis Mullis, 31, has filed a motion to waive his appeals and fire his attorney, hoping to expedite his execution after he was sentenced to death in 2011.
The horrific incident took place in 2008 when the then 21-year-old father molested his infant son Alijah then stomped on his head when he wouldn't stop crying.
'I’m guilty of what I did and the death penalty is the legally justified and, I believe morally, sentence for what I’ve done. I'm ready to accept my punishment,' he said to Fox on Wednesday.
Hours before he harmed his son, he took a friend's eight-year-old daughter to her school's playground with the intent of molesting her. When she started crying he took her home then turned to his son.
'He started crying. I tried to console him. I thought it would work, but it didn’t work. I sexually assaulted him and killed him. I put him on the side of the road and stomped on his skull until it collapsed,' Mullis said.
Speaking shortly after his arrest he said that morning he was having flashbacks of his own childhood sexual abuse and was worried he might hurt Alijah.
This isn't the first time's he's tried to expedite his death.
In the past he waived his direct appeal after being sentenced to death.
In a previous interview with the Houston Chronicle he said he wanted to die as soon as possible.
'I support my death sentence and want it carried out ASAP. I was sentenced to death, not indefinite detention,' he told the paper via letter.

Two Massachusetts police officers were injured when a Rhode Island officer's gun accidentally discharged at the funeral of a cop who was shot dead in the line of duty.
Cranston Police Sgt. Michael Patnaud fired his gun soon after he was part of the honor guard at the funeral for Weymouth Police Sgt. Michael Chesna on July 20.
Authorities said Patnaud was removing his gun from his holster to change out of his honor guard uniform on a bus just outside the Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree following the funeral.
He accidentally dropped his gun and it fired when Patnaud tried to catch it.
Two female officers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology were struck by debris after the gun fired.
'It became apparent that a round had been discharged inside the bus and struck the ground near the MIT officers,' a police report stated. 'The impact sent debris up, striking the officers.'
One of the officers was hit in the hand, while the other was struck just above the eye. Both of the injured officers declined medical treatment.
Braintree Police Chief Paul Shastany told the Patriot Ledger that holsters on honor guard uniforms are not designed for 'street wear' and are different to the everyday holsters.
Shastany added that he had not disclosed the incident earlier because an ongoing investigation.
No charges have been filed against Patnaud and he remains on duty.
The incident took place at the funeral of the Weymouth police officer who was shot dead on July 15.
Chesna had been investigating reports of an erratic driver and car crash near the end of his overnight shift.
The man suspected of killing him, Emmanuel Lopes, allegedly threw a large rock at the officer, grabbed his gun and repeatedly shot him with it.
Lopes also is also charged with killing a 77-year-old bystander, Vera Adams.
He has pleaded not guilty.

The formerly great state of California is asking that question right now. They are out of resources to fight the huge fires that are tearing thru the tinder dry state. They have been importing fire fighters from Australia. Last week more than 900 requests for equipment went unanswered because the equipment was not available.
In the 2012 fire season there were 134 unwilled mutual aid requests for fire engines and water tenders. In the 2016 fire season that number was 3,029.
The basic structure for California's mutual aid system is 75 years old and is considered to be one of the best in the country. Trouble is when you have many more requests for aid than you have aid available the old "we used to be good" doesn't mean much.

The reason was that the suit lacked sufficient specificity to allow the officers and the department to respond properly to it.
You might remember that a goatfucker named Omar Mateen shot up the gay nightclub in June of 2916, killing a total of 49 patrons.
The lawsuit names one specific officer who was working off-duty security at the club plus 30 John Doe officers as well as the Orlando P. D. in general.

A deputy has been fired after a robbery suspect broke out of a patrol car and rode on its roof on a highway last week.
Sgt. Cliff Griffin, a Taylor County Sheriff's Office spokesman, said in an email to the Abilene Reporter News that the deputy was fired “for violating Taylor County Sheriff’s Office policies concerning the safety and security of the inmate.” Griffin did not name the deputy.
The inmate, 31-year-old Martin Gregory Estrada of Abilene, is believed to have broken free of his handcuffs and used them to shatter one of the patrol car’s windows while on U.S. Highway 277 in Archer County. He was being transferred from Wichita Falls to Abilene.
Estrada threatened suicide after climbing out the window and sitting atop the car’s roof. Wichita County deputies were called in for backup, and the man was taken back into custody once the patrol car pulled over.

Ohio Police Chief Overdosed on Drugs Taken From Evidence Room

Officials say that an ongoing investigation shows that a Kirkersville, Ohio police who died of an accidental fentanyl overdose took the drugs from the department's evidence room.
Police Chief James Hughes Jr., 35, was found unresponsive in the bathroom of his Reynoldsburg home on May 25 and was pronounced dead a short time later, according to The Newark Advocate.
Reynoldsburg Police Lt. Ron Wright said the department is still investigating, but evidence shows the drugs were possibly evidence in other cases taken from the evidence room.
"There was packaging that indicated that he was taking controlled substances from there," he told the newspaper.
An autopsy conducted by the Franklin County Coroner's Office indicated Hughes died of an "acute intoxication by fentanyl." Records from the coroner's office indicate two syringes were recovered and tested for the presence of substances which may have contributed to Hughes' death.
One syringe had no drugs in it, while the other was positive for fentanyl. A plastic sandwich bag found at the scene also tested positive for cocaine and a third syringe containing a liquid was determined to be positive for fentanyl.
Hughes was named police chief on March 13 and his hiring came less than a week after the prior chief, Jeff Finley, had unexpectedly resigned.
Prior to his death, the village had been planned to increase Hughes' weekly schedule from 20 hours to 32 hours for the chief who was making $14 an hour.
The village has not yet named a replacement for Hughes.
EDITOR’S NOTE: I suspect this is one of those villages with a cop shop consisting of four part-time officers, a chief, captain, lieutenant and sergeant. $14 an hour for the chief? Officials say that an ongoing investigation shows that a Kirkersville, Ohio police who died of an accidental fentanyl overdose took the drugs from the department's evidence room.
Police Chief James Hughes Jr., 35, was found unresponsive in the bathroom of his Reynoldsburg home on May 25 and was pronounced dead a short time later, according to The Newark Advocate.
Reynoldsburg Police Lt. Ron Wright said the department is still investigating, but evidence shows the drugs were possibly evidence in other cases taken from the evidence room.
"There was packaging that indicated that he was taking controlled substances from there," he told the newspaper.
An autopsy conducted by the Franklin County Coroner's Office indicated Hughes died of an "acute intoxication by fentanyl." Records from the coroner's office indicate two syringes were recovered and tested for the presence of substances which may have contributed to Hughes' death.
One syringe had no drugs in it, while the other was positive for fentanyl. A plastic sandwich bag found at the scene also tested positive for cocaine and a third syringe containing a liquid was determined to be positive for fentanyl.
Hughes was named police chief on March 13 and his hiring came less than a week after the prior chief, Jeff Finley, had unexpectedly resigned.
Prior to his death, the village had been planned to increase Hughes' weekly schedule from 20 hours to 32 hours for the chief who was making $14 an hour.
The village has not yet named a replacement for Hughes.

An Israeli airstrike on the Syrian side of the Golan Heights border has eliminated seven terrorists, the IDF Spokesperson's Unit said Thursday.
According to available information, Israeli Air Force aircraft were scrambled to target the cell after its members were spotted approaching the security fence. Israeli troops later found several explosive belts and an AK-47 assault rifle near the border.
IDF Spokesman Brig. Gen. Ronen Manelis issued a statement on Thursday saying, "An operation was undertaken overnight in the Golan Heights. At around 10:30 p.m., IAF aircraft targeted seven terrorists we identified as armed and on the move. We monitored them over time."
According to Manelis, the terrorists were identified as members of the Islamic State terrorist organization and were hit a mere "200 meters from the border fence."
Manelis stressed that "at no point was there any threat to any [Israeli] soldiers or communities. We had them at a far enough distance from the border that they posed no threat to the troops, and certainly not to communities.
"The IDF remains on high alert and is ready to defend the Israeli public."
Meanwhile, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a U.K.-based war monitoring group, said early Thursday that clashes were continuing between the Syrian army and Islamic State militants in that area.
There was no immediate Syrian government response to the Israeli statements.
Commenting on the recent developments in Syria, where Syrian President Bashar Assad's forces are now again in control of the area near the Israeli border, Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman said Syria's return to its pre-civil war situation was "a given."
Lieberman also predicted that the Golan Heights frontier would be calmer with Assad's rule restored.
Before the Syrian civil war began in 2011 and throughout the seven years of fighting, Israel and Syria have mostly been careful to observe the 1974 cease-fire agreement between them.
The conflict has seen several small flare-ups between the two enemy states, but both have sought to contain tensions.
"From our perspective, the situation is returning to how it was before the civil war, meaning there is someone in charge, a central ruler," Lieberman told reporters.
Asked whether Israelis should be less wary of potential flare-ups on the Golan, he said, "I believe so."
But he then qualified that with, "We remain ready and willing and we will prove our abilities at the moment of truth. We will not compromise when it comes to our security interests."
Israel has been adamant about preventing Assad's ally, Iran, from entrenching itself militarily in Syria. Russia, the superpower that sided with Assad in 2015, effectively ensuring his survival, has presented Israel with guarantees that Iranian-backed forces will remain 85 kilometers (53 miles) from the border.
Israel insists this measure still falls short and demands the removal of all the Iranian-backed forces from Syria, something Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has called "unrealistic."
Lieberman stressed Thursday that "Syrian soil cannot be used as an Iranian front against Israel and Syria cannot be used as a conduit for weapons smuggling to Hezbollah."
He reiterated his assessment that, with Assad firmly back in power, the Golan Heights border will once again be calm, saying, "He [Assad] knows what will happen otherwise. It's in his interest [to keep the border calm] and he will have to make his own considerations."
Commenting on the tensions on the Israel-Gaza Strip border, Lieberman said that Hamas has been using children to send incendiary balloons over the border into Israel, and its operative have been using civilian homes and venues as cover for the terrorist cells.
The Palestinian arson campaign has been wreaking havoc on Israeli border towns for three months and has caused millions of dollars in damage.
Residents of Israeli communities near the Gaza border, as well as several cabinet ministers, have demanded that the government handle kite terrorist cells with the same lethal force it does rocket launching cells. But top defense officials have been wary of such a move, saying that directly targeting kite and balloon cells, which mostly comprise teenagers and children, would lead the already volatile situation on the border to spiral out of control.
"We have to targets those [Hamas leaders] who give the flaming balloons cells their orders, not the pawns," Lieberman said.
Also on Thursday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu canceled a trip to Colombia planned for next week due to the situation around the Gaza Strip.
Netanyahu had been scheduled to visit the Latin American country from Aug. 6-9 to attend the inauguration ceremony of President-elect Ivan Duque Marquez.
Numerous Latin American states are expected to attend the Aug. 7 ceremony in Bogota. Netanyahu was expected to hold a series of meetings with the leaders of Guatemala, Honduras, Argentina and Chile, among others, in an effort to bolster Israel's standing in the region.

LEROY WANTS THAT SUMBITCH
A filthy rich Florida man decided that he wanted to throw a party and invited all of his buddies and neighbors. He also invited Leroy, the only Redneck in the neighborhood.
He held the party around the pool in the backyard of his mansion. Leroy was having a good time drinking, dancing, eating shrimp, oysters and BBQ and flirting with all the women.

Everyone turned around and saw Leroy in the pool! Leroy was fighting the gator and kicking its ass! Leroy was jabbing it in the eyes with his thumbs, throwing punches, head butts and choke holds, biting the gator on the tail and flipping it through the air like some kind of Judo Instructor.
The water was churning and splashing everywhere. Both Leroy and the gator were screaming and raising hell. Finally Leroy strangled the gator and let it float to the top like a dime store goldfish. Leroy then slowly climbed out of the pool.
Everybody was just staring at him in disbelief.
Finally the host says, 'Well, Leroy, I reckon I owe you a million dollars.'
'No, that's okay. I don't want it,' said Leroy.
The rich man said, 'Man, I have to give you something. You won the bet. How about half a million bucks then?'

Sergio Castaneda III, 32, was found dead in his cell at New Folsom Prison shortly after 10:00 p.m. on Monday. Since it was after evening lockup they are reasonably certain that the cell partner, Arthur Lane, 47, did it.
Lane is doing life for a 2003 conviction for murder out of Sacramento county, with an additional four years for ADW on a prison after he became a guest of the state.
Castaneda was doing three years out of LA for robbery, with an additional four years for battery on a non=prisoner back in 2016. He had previously served a term for battery on an elderly person resulting in death or GBI.
It doesn't pay to piss off a murderer doing life. They have damn little to lose.

Guillermo Perez, 32, is seen in the video facing the officers while holding onto Elizabeth Tollison outside the Central Lutheran Church in the Van Nuys section of Los Angeles on June 16.
Officers confronting the homeless man then opened fire when he started cutting her neck. Cops fired nearly 20 times and killed both Perez and Tollison.
It was the first time in 13 years the LAPD shot and killed an innocent bystander or hostage.
Just five weeks later, on July 21, it happened again, when LA cops shot and killed a Trader Joe's assistant manager during a standoff with murder suspect Gene Evin Atkins in the Silver Lakes neighborhood.
Authorities said last week that an officer's bullet killed Melyda Corado before Atkins took hostages inside the store.
'This is another case where officers were forced to make split-second decisions based on the actions of a violent individual,' Police Chief Michel Moore said of the first shooting.
Moore has defended the officers' use of deadly force as an attempt to stop what they feared could become a mass shooting.
The police chief said Tuesday that he was concerned at the average number of rounds fired by officers during shootings had increased last year.
He also said the number of officers involved in those shootings also increased.
The police department will implement a new training program and is exploring how to equip officers with other non-lethal weapons, he said.
In the newly released footage from officers' body-worn cameras, police spotted a suspect, Guillermo Perez, 32, holding a large knife and a metal folding chair outside the Central Lutheran Church on June 16.
They responded to the church that provides food and support for homeless people after a 911 call reported a man had stabbed his ex-girlfriend.
She was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

An officer fires several rounds from a bean bag shotgun - which fires a small sack with metal pellets - but Perez appears to use the folding chair to deflect them.

He dropped the chair and put the knife to her throat.
Witnesses told police that Perez moved the knife in a 'sawing motion against her throat and cut her throat,' Cmdr. Alan Hamilton said.
Moore told reporters that hostages' lives are a priority and recruits are generally taught to use a 'precise head shot.'

Iran rejects Trump offer of talks as worthless and a 'dream'

Senior Iranian officials and military commanders on Tuesday rejected U.S. President Donald Trump's offer of talks without preconditions as worthless and "a dream," saying his words contradict his actions in reimposing sanctions on Iran.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani also said Trump's repudiation of the 2015 international nuclear deal was "illegal" and Iran would not easily yield to the U.S. campaign to strangle Iran's vital oil exports.
In May, Trump pulled the United States out of the multilateral deal, denouncing it as one-sided in Iran's favor. On Monday, he said that he would be willing to meet Rouhani without preconditions to discuss how to improve relations.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif tweeted that the United States should blame itself for ending talks with Iran when it withdrew from the nuclear deal.
"U.S. can only blame itself for pulling out and leaving the table. ... Threats, sanctions and PR stunts won't work," he wrote.
An Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said Trump's offer to negotiate with Iran contradicted his actions, as Washington has reimposed sanctions on Iran and put pressure on other countries to avoid business with it.
"Sanctions and pressures are the exact opposite of dialogue," Bahram Qasemi was quoted by Fars news agency as saying on Tuesday.
The head of the powerful Revolutionary Guards equally dismissed Trump's tentative offer, saying Iran is not North Korea.
"Mr. Trump! Iran is not North Korea to accept your offer for a meeting," Maj. Gen. Mohammad Ali Jafari was quoted as saying by Fars News agency.
"Even U.S. presidents after you will not see that day," he added.
The head of Iran's Strategic Council on Foreign Relations said Iran sees no value in Trump's offer, made only a week after he warned Iran it risked dire consequences if it made threats against Washington.
"Based on our bad experiences in negotiations with America and based on U.S. officials' violation of their commitments, it is natural that we see no value in his proposal," Kamal Kharrazi was quoted as saying by Fars.
The Strategic Council on Foreign Relations was set up by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to help formulate long-term policies for Iran.
Trump's move to force Iran into new negotiations has for now reunited Iranian hard-liners who opposed the nuclear deal and pragmatists like Rouhani who championed it to end Iran's economically crippling standoff with Western powers.
Ali Motahari, the deputy speaker of parliament who is seen as part of the moderate camp, said that to negotiate with Trump now "would be a humiliation."
"If Trump had not withdrawn from the nuclear deal and not imposed sanctions on Iran, there would be no problem with negotiations with America," he told the state-run Islamic Republic News Agency.
A senior U.S. State Department official said on Tuesday that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo would not meet with his Iranian counterpart during a meeting of Southeast Asian nations in Singapore this weekend.
Under the 2015 deal, the fruit of Rouhani's efforts to ease Iran's international isolation to help revive its economy, Iran curbed its nuclear program and won relief from U.N. and Western sanctions in return.
Trump condemned the deal in part because it did not cover Iran's ballistic missile program and involvement in Middle East conflicts. He reactivated U.S. sanctions, the most all-encompassing measures against Iran, and warned countries to stop importing Iranian oil from Nov. 4 or risk U.S. penalties.
European signatories to the deal have been searching for ways to salvage it but cautioned Iran that they may not be able to persuade many investors not to bolt from business with Iran to avoid U.S. punishment.
Rouhani said during a meeting with Britain's ambassador on Tuesday that after what he called the "illegal" U.S. withdrawal from the nuclear deal, "the ball is in Europe's court now."
He said, "The Islamic republic has never sought tension in the region and does not want any trouble in global waterways, but it will not easily give up on its rights to export oil."
Rouhani and some senior military commanders have said Iran could disrupt oil shipments from Persian Gulf states through the Strait of Hormuz if Washington tries to choke off Iranian oil exports.
Reiterating the official stance, Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi was quoted by the Tasnim news agency as saying that the strait would remain open "if Iran's national interests are preserved."
Iran's representative to the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, Hossein Kazempour Ardebili, told Reuters on Tuesday that Trump was mistaken if he expected Saudi Arabia and other oil producers to compensate for losses of Iranian oil caused by U.S. sanctions.
"It seems President Trump has been taken hostage by Saudi Arabia and a few producers, when they claimed they can replace 2.5 million barrels per day of Iranian exports, encouraging him to take action against Iran," Ardebili said.
"Now they and Russia sell more oil and more expensively, not even from their incremental production but their stocks."
He said oil prices, which Trump has been pressuring OPEC to bring down by raising output, will instead rise unless the United States grants waivers to buyers of Iranian crude.

Senior Iranian officials and military commanders on Tuesday rejected U.S. President Donald Trump's offer of talks without preconditions as worthless and "a dream," saying his words contradict his actions in reimposing sanctions on Iran.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani also said Trump's repudiation of the 2015 international nuclear deal was "illegal" and Iran would not easily yield to the U.S. campaign to strangle Iran's vital oil exports.
In May, Trump pulled the United States out of the multilateral deal, denouncing it as one-sided in Iran's favor. On Monday, he said that he would be willing to meet Rouhani without preconditions to discuss how to improve relations.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif tweeted that the United States should blame itself for ending talks with Iran when it withdrew from the nuclear deal.
"U.S. can only blame itself for pulling out and leaving the table. ... Threats, sanctions and PR stunts won't work," he wrote.
An Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said Trump's offer to negotiate with Iran contradicted his actions, as Washington has reimposed sanctions on Iran and put pressure on other countries to avoid business with it.
"Sanctions and pressures are the exact opposite of dialogue," Bahram Qasemi was quoted by Fars news agency as saying on Tuesday.
The head of the powerful Revolutionary Guards equally dismissed Trump's tentative offer, saying Iran is not North Korea.
"Mr. Trump! Iran is not North Korea to accept your offer for a meeting," Maj. Gen. Mohammad Ali Jafari was quoted as saying by Fars News agency.
"Even U.S. presidents after you will not see that day," he added.
The head of Iran's Strategic Council on Foreign Relations said Iran sees no value in Trump's offer, made only a week after he warned Iran it risked dire consequences if it made threats against Washington.
"Based on our bad experiences in negotiations with America and based on U.S. officials' violation of their commitments, it is natural that we see no value in his proposal," Kamal Kharrazi was quoted as saying by Fars.
The Strategic Council on Foreign Relations was set up by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to help formulate long-term policies for Iran.
Trump's move to force Iran into new negotiations has for now reunited Iranian hard-liners who opposed the nuclear deal and pragmatists like Rouhani who championed it to end Iran's economically crippling standoff with Western powers.
Ali Motahari, the deputy speaker of parliament who is seen as part of the moderate camp, said that to negotiate with Trump now "would be a humiliation."
"If Trump had not withdrawn from the nuclear deal and not imposed sanctions on Iran, there would be no problem with negotiations with America," he told the state-run Islamic Republic News Agency.
A senior U.S. State Department official said on Tuesday that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo would not meet with his Iranian counterpart during a meeting of Southeast Asian nations in Singapore this weekend.
Under the 2015 deal, the fruit of Rouhani's efforts to ease Iran's international isolation to help revive its economy, Iran curbed its nuclear program and won relief from U.N. and Western sanctions in return.
Trump condemned the deal in part because it did not cover Iran's ballistic missile program and involvement in Middle East conflicts. He reactivated U.S. sanctions, the most all-encompassing measures against Iran, and warned countries to stop importing Iranian oil from Nov. 4 or risk U.S. penalties.
European signatories to the deal have been searching for ways to salvage it but cautioned Iran that they may not be able to persuade many investors not to bolt from business with Iran to avoid U.S. punishment.
Rouhani said during a meeting with Britain's ambassador on Tuesday that after what he called the "illegal" U.S. withdrawal from the nuclear deal, "the ball is in Europe's court now."
He said, "The Islamic republic has never sought tension in the region and does not want any trouble in global waterways, but it will not easily give up on its rights to export oil."
Rouhani and some senior military commanders have said Iran could disrupt oil shipments from Persian Gulf states through the Strait of Hormuz if Washington tries to choke off Iranian oil exports.
Reiterating the official stance, Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi was quoted by the Tasnim news agency as saying that the strait would remain open "if Iran's national interests are preserved."
Iran's representative to the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, Hossein Kazempour Ardebili, told Reuters on Tuesday that Trump was mistaken if he expected Saudi Arabia and other oil producers to compensate for losses of Iranian oil caused by U.S. sanctions.
"It seems President Trump has been taken hostage by Saudi Arabia and a few producers, when they claimed they can replace 2.5 million barrels per day of Iranian exports, encouraging him to take action against Iran," Ardebili said.
"Now they and Russia sell more oil and more expensively, not even from their incremental production but their stocks."
He said oil prices, which Trump has been pressuring OPEC to bring down by raising output, will instead rise unless the United States grants waivers to buyers of Iranian crude.

Five New York Police pilots who were feuding with their boss flew a $4 million counter-surveillance plane in a giant penis-shaped route in a bid to troll him.
The phallic flight pattern showed up on the NYPD's tracking system back in March when the pilots opted to protest against Aviation Unit head Inspector James Coan, the New York Post reports.
Supervisors monitoring the flight-tracking software immediately alerted Coan when they noticed the penis shape.
Two of the pilots were removed from the unit as a result and the others disciplined after a departmental hearing.
The pilots staged the protest after they questioned whether the federally-funded plane was safe to fly over water at low altitude.

The same weapons that the gun industry pumps out in ever greater numbers are more likely to fatally injure people, a new study shows. The public safety risks of popular medium- and large-caliber firearms models are compounded by another fresh research finding: Criminals are seeking out those same guns.
In the first study, scholars dug into Boston Police Department investigative files and sorted shootings by the caliber of the guns with which they were committed. Caliber is a measure of a bullet’s diameter, which in turn affects the force with which it strikes a target and the size of the channel as it penetrates. Sure enough, the researchers found that, in Boston, gunshot wounds from medium- to large-caliber rounds were significantly more likely to kill victims than wounds from smaller-caliber bullets. According to the paper by Anthony Braga of Northeastern University and Philip Cook of Duke University, victims were 2.3 times more likely to die when shot with what the authors call medium-caliber handguns like the 9mm or .380 than they were if shot by weapons that fire small bullets like the .22.
The study shows, Cook says, that “the type of weapon matters separately and in addition to the intention of the attacker, skill of the attacker, and the circumstances of the attack, in terms of likelihood that the victim will die.”
Victims shot by what the authors classify as large-caliber handgun rounds, like the .45, were even more likely to die, with Braga and Cook’s analysis showing those wounds were 4.5 times more fatal than those from small-caliber rounds.
“Homicides were more likely to involve large-caliber firearms relative to nonfatal shootings,” the authors wrote. “The implication is that if the medium- and large-caliber guns had been replaced with small caliber (assuming everything else unchanged), the result would have been a 39.5% reduction in gun homicides.”
Not only are larger-caliber handguns deadlier than smaller pistols, they have exploded in popularity among legal gun buyers. Guns like the 9mm have become synonymous with the “good guy with a gun,” civilians who go armed in public for purposes of self-defense.
According the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, American gun companies produced approximately 2.3 million 9mm semiautomatic handguns in 2016, the most recent year for which manufacturing data is available. That’s more than four times the combined number of all small-caliber semiautomatic pistols manufactured the same year.
Compare that to data from 1990 when gunmakers produced just shy of 350,000 semiautomatic 9mm pistols, slightly fewer than the number of pistols that fired the relatively puny .22 round they made that year.
As we reported in 2016, the gun industry’s shift from producing more small, cheap “Saturday Night Special” pistols so common from the 1960s through the 1980s to more large-caliber, deadlier handguns depended on the expansion of concealed-carry laws.
In 1981, 19 states banned concealed carry in any form. But after decades of lobbying by the National Rifle Association, today all 50 states allow residents to carry in public to one degree or another. As a result, people who in a previous age would never have considered going armed in public now consider concealed carry acceptable. In certain parts of the country, the practice has gone mainstream: In Florida, more than 1.9 million residents — or one out of 10 people — currently have an active concealed weapons license.
To take advantage of the opportunity presented by loosened public carry laws and fear-based demand, gunmakers market weapons that pack the most powerful round into the most concealable gun frame possible. But “good guys with guns” aren’t the only people who hear that pitch.
Another study published this month in Criminology by Braga and David Hureau of the University of Albany examined the dynamics of Boston’s criminal market for guns. The authors interviewed criminals who were keenly aware of the differences between weapons, and who pay a premium for the kinds of newer semiautomatic pistols also favored by concealed carriers.
“All respondents acknowledged that the most desirable guns were larger caliber semiautomatic pistols,” Braga and Hureau wrote.
The most popular caliber among the criminals interviewed was the 9mm. The gang members and drug dealers who spoke with Braga and Hureau told them they preferred these kinds of guns because they fire a powerful cartridge, can store many rounds in a magazine, and are easily concealed in a waistband.
Cook says empirical research like these two papers get to the heart of gun policy.
“There are two fundamental empirical issues in the debate over gun control: does the type of weapon matter to lethality, and does the general availability of guns increase crime?” he said. “If you believe those things matter, then you can make policy to save lives.”

Suspect identified in murder of prominent Houston cardiologist

Houston Police announced Wednesday they had identified a suspect in the murder of a prominent cardiologist who once treated former President George H.W. Bush.
Police Chief Art Acevedo told reporters that an arrest warrant had been issued for 65-year-old Joseph James Pappas, who investigators believe shot and killed Dr. Mark Hausknecht as he rode his bicycle to work on the morning of July 20.
"We need to find this guy," Acevedo said of Pappas, who he described as armed, dangerous and possibly suicidal. "If he's committed suicide, we need the body. If he's alive, we need to find him."
Investigators believe that Pappas held a grudge against Hausknecht after his mother died while the doctor was operating on her more than two decades earlier. Acevedo said that officers had searched Pappas' home Tuesday night and obtained additional evidence tying him to the murder.
"We believe that this absolutely is the killer," Acevedo said.
Acevedo said the department received tips identifying Pappas as the gunman after authorities released new surveillance video Monday of the suspect riding his own bicycle through a neighborhood moments after the shooting. The footage showed a man wearing a ball cap, a short-sleeved polo shirt and khaki shorts.
Investigators said the shooter passed Hausknecht from behind and rode at least a block ahead before turning around and firing three shots at his victim.
"There was a lot of planning that went into this," Acevedo said of the murder. "There was a lot of planning and, sadly, some skill ... The shots that he took, took some skill."
The chief told people living in the area to be on the lookout for a Schwinn ten-speed bicycle that he said Pappas rode "extensively and almost exclusively."
In 2000, Hausknecht treated Bush for an irregular heartbeat after the 41st president complained about lightheadedness. After Hausknecht's death, Bush called him "a fantastic cardiologist and a good man."

A federal judge has just issued a TRO against the Texas man who was going to put downloadable directions for 3-d printing of a so-called Ghost Gun.
It should be noted that it is completely legal a non-prohibited person to make their own gun in the U.S.A. You are SUPPOSED to apply for a serial number from ATF once you have done this, but actually making your own gun is NOT an illegal act in and of itself.
I have some serious doubts that the TRO will be upheld in the long run. There will, however, but a lot of gnashing of teeth and wringing of hands between here and then.

As I write this there are 17 substantial wild fires burning in the formerly great state of California. I can smell the smoke in the air and I am nowhere near any of them.
Two days ago there was serious worry that all of Redding might be burned out. Redding is a city of 90,000 people. The odds have now gone down, but not to zero. There is another huge fire wine county and one in SoCal that are large and getting larger.
The fact is that CA has a shit forest management plan. There are a gazillion dead trees out there but the environmental nutters don't want them to be removed because a logging company might actually make money off of them and would have to have access roads to do it.
If active forest management is evil t and forest fires are bad and lack of active forest management leads to more and worse forest fires, where is the win?

However, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) does not count wild fires as an "official" source of air pollution. (This figure came from CA. state legislator John Moorlach so he may have just pulled it out of his anal orifice, you never know.)
Assuming it is true the solution is obvious. We should bulldoze the forest and install artificial forests with fake trees concealing mechanical carbon dioxide scrubbers. They could put in a few fake Spotted Owls and stuffed deer to make the wild life people happy.

A lawsuit has been filed asking $100 million on behalf of two of the 17 drowning victims. The filing names Ripley Entertainment Inc, Ride The Ducks Inc and Amphibious Vehicle Manufacturing in the suit. The weather service put out a severe weather warning about 30 minutes BEFORE the boat hit the water near Branson, MO.
I don't know if the vehicle manufacturer is one who originally made the vessel (presumably for the military) or someone who modified the boat for excursion use. In military configuration they are open topped. In excursion mode they are enclosed and have limited egress.
Somebody is going to loose a ton of money on this. With justification.

I have written a couple of times recently about Australian Archbishop Philip Wilson, 67. He was convicted in a court in Australia for neglecting to report known sex abuse by pedophile priests and deliberately concealing the crimes. He is, as far as is known, the highest ranking member of the Catholic Church to ever be convicted of a crime in a secular court.
The Pope has just recently accepted his resignation.

Thurman Blevins, 31, was a black man in Minneapolis who is now a dead black man. The shooting was 100% justified but the local black community is still going crazy, to the extent that they shouted the D. A. off of his own news conference into the decision to NOT charge the cops.
There is, fortunately first quality body cam video of the whole thing. The cops were responding to a call of a man shooting into the air, they did NOT just stop to hassle someone. They stopped and Blevins ran. The video plainly shows him in actual possession of a gun and a gun was recovered at the scene where he died. The pursuing cops gave MULTIPLE loud and clear commands for him to stop and raise his hands. He kept running, all the time saying things like "I didn't do nothing" and "Leave me alone." The foot pursuit lasted about one minute. Blevins stopped and pulled the gun from his waistband and both cops fired on him. They fired 14 shots, four hit him.
Clearly the "mob" believes the cops should have let him turn and open fire on them first before they shot. Clearly the mob is a bunch of dumb fucks.

He was a former Marine who entered politics with the city council of Berkeley, CA. He was elected to congress in 1970. He retired from congress 20 years ago and became mayor of Oakland, his home town. He was a very bright guy and a brilliant speaker, gifted with pretty much a photographic memory.

The man shot and killed by Aurora police was defending his family from a naked stranger who had burst through the front door of their East Montview Boulevard home in the wee hours of Monday morning, grabbing an 11-year-old boy who was sleeping on a couch and attacking him.
The 73-year-old man, who has been identified as Richard “Gary” Black and was the boy’s grandfather, shot the intruder with a 9-mm pistol while the stranger was choking and trying to drown the boy in a bathtub, said Siddhartha Rathod, an attorney representing Black’s family. The intruder died.
Soon afterward, an Aurora Police Department officer shot and killed Black after police arrived at the home at 10609 E. Montview Blvd.
“This is a horror movie scenario,” Rathod said. “There’s no question Mr. Black is a hero, that Mr. Black saved his grandson’s life. This truly is a tragedy.”
Police have admitted they killed a homeowner at 1:30 a.m. Monday at the home, but they have not explained what transpired other than that police arrived to a “chaotic and violent scene,” heard gunshots and encountered an armed man, whom they shot.
The intruder has not been identified.
The deaths are under investigation by the 17th Judicial District Attorney, which covers Adams County. The DA’s office issued a statement Monday night saying it had asked the Aurora Police Department to withhold releasing new information about the shooting until the investigation is complete.
Black was a South Carolina native who graduated from The Citadel, a military college in Charleston, S.C., in 1966 and was in Hotel Company, said Kim Keelor, a spokeswoman for the school.
He became a lieutenant in the Army and served in the Vietnam War. He was awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his actions, according to a newspaper clipping provided to The Denver Post. Military service ran in the family: Black’s father was a World War II veteran who fought at the Battle of the Bulge, said his half-sister, Elisa Black-Taylor, who lives in South Carolina.
“He was a wonderful family man who loved spending time with his grandchildren and caring for his garden,” Black-Taylor said. “I’ve chatted with his daughter, and she says he saved his family when an intruder broke into his home. He will be remembered as a hero, both for his service to his country as well as to the family who loved him.”
After the war, Black became a federal agent for the Internal Revenue Service, Rathod said. He also was a licensed certified public accountant in Colorado, according to public records.
Black and his wife, Jeanette, had been married for 39 years, and they had raised three children in the Montview Boulevard home. Grandchildren were frequent visitors.
Rathod, who met Tuesday with Jeanette Black and other family members, said the intruder had been attending a party at a home on the corner of North Iola Street and East Montview Boulevard before he ran across the five-lane road and onto the Black’s property. Others from the party followed him onto the property and at some point entered the house, Rathod said.
Black, his wife, a stepson and the grandson were all asleep when the intruder kicked in the door, Rathod said.
Aurora’s public safety dispatch center first received multiple calls about a disturbance in the area and then received a call from a woman at the East Montview Boulevard home who said a man was breaking into their house, according to an Aurora police news release.
The intruder grabbed the boy, choked him and took him to the bathroom where he was attempting to drown him in a bathtub, Rathod said.
Gary Black and his stepson fought with the intruder, but he would not stop attacking the boy. They even hit the intruder on the head with a vase but that did not stop him, Rathod said.
So Black, who had a concealed carry weapon permit, rushed to get his 9 mm and then killed the intruder.
The stepson was in the bathroom with the child and Black’s wife was outside talking to 911 operators when they heard additional shots, Rathod said. Black was standing in his living room when he was hit by gunfire, Rathod said.
Black died at a hospital. The intruder was found dead on the bathroom floor. The child was taken to a hospital for serious, non-life-threatening issues and remained hospitalized Tuesday afternoon, Rathod said.
Jeanette Black also was hospitalized after she reinjured a wound from a previous illness.
The family has a lot of questions as to why Black was killed by police officers, Rathod said.
“Aurora is going to need to come out and say what happened,” Rathod said.
The officer who fired the shot has been placed on administrative reassignment with pay. The Denver Police Department is assisting in the investigation.
It was the second fatal shooting by an Aurora police officer with 24 hours.
Early Sunday morning, an Aurora officer fatally shot a man driving a stolen pickup truck in Adams County. Officers had followed the truck driver across the county line and down a dead end road when the driver turned around and began ramming police cars, according to an Adams County Sheriff’s Office spokesman.
That shooting also remains under investigation by the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

Former porn star Mia Khalifa has a unique and painful souvenir from this year’s NHL playoffs.
In a new interview with the U.K.’s Daily Star, Khalifa — now the cohost of podcast Sportsball — revealed that she’ll undergo reconstructive surgery after allegedly being hit by a flying hockey puck earlier this year.
“I was sitting behind the glass during a game, and it came shooting over the glass and it caught me so off guard and I had no idea it was coming,” said Khalifa, 25. She added to the Star, “I grabbed my chest and I didn’t want to let go, because I felt like if I did let go blood was going to be everywhere.”
Khalifa noted to the outlet that pucks are “really heavy,” and speculated that it was traveling at about 80 mph. when it allegedly struck her.
“My left breast is slightly deflated now and I will be getting it fixed next year,” she said.
EDITOR’S NOTE: As a longtime hockey fan, I am a little skeptical of Mia’s story. Those 80mph puks almost always fly at the end of a rink and the fans sitting at the rink ends are protected by a net. Fans sitting in the first few rows along the sides are protected by a glass wall. Occasionally pucks fly over the glass along the sides, but not at anywhere near 80mph.
Having said that though, getting hit by a puck even at say 10mph can do major damage to a hockey game spectator. And if right on target, it can give a gal a flat tire … I mean flat innertube … err, that’s flat boob.
Whatever the speed, Mia is lucky she didn’t get hit in the mouth because that hard rubber biscuit would have defanged her.
