Did you know that even a medium-size wild fire puts more carbon particulates and nasty stuff into the air than four YEARS of automobile use in this country? However, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) does not count wild fires as an "official" source of air pollution. (This figure came from CA. state legislator John Moorlach so he may have just pulled it out of his anal orifice, you never know.)
Assuming it is true the solution is obvious. We should bulldoze the forest and install artificial forests with fake trees concealing mechanical carbon dioxide scrubbers. They could put in a few fake Spotted Owls and stuffed deer to make the wild life people happy.
Sounds like a plan to me.
