Execs from Verizon got reamed out by the CA legislature yesterday for throttling back the speed of the cell phone connections for first responders (mostly fire fighters) fighting the huge wild fires in CA.
To give Verizon credit they copped up front to it, admitted it was stupid and said they fixed it.
One would hope that this is something that people involved (including CalFIRE as well as Verizon) would have thought about up front, but they didn't. Nobody tried to hide it. Everybody tried to fix it. Looks like they did. Problem found. Problem solved. It's not wonderful, but for government work it is pretty good.
