NOT IN TEXAS, DAMN IT!

The right to bare breasts: Women in New York, LA and other cities parade the streets to stand up for women's right to go topless in public

Women bared their breasts in parades around the world to demand the right to go fully topless in public. They marched in Go Topless Day parades held in US cities including New York, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Denver and Minneapolis. Events were also held abroad in Freiburg in Germany, Seoul in South Korea and Valparaiso in Chile.

But while some women who took part were fully exposed, many abided by the law and covered their nipples – with tape or body paint.

Some protesters marching in Venice, California, carried placards declaring 'it's boobs, not bombs!' and 'war is indecent, not my breasts.'

Held every year on the Sunday closest to Women's Equality Day, the aim is to question laws that make it illegal for women to not wear shirts while it is legal for men to do the same. This year, it fell on Women's Equality Day – which is marked every year on August 26 after the date in 1920 when women got the right to vote.

Women can go topless in Texas. They just don't. Darn it.
