THERE MUST BE A BACKSTORY HERE

by Bob Walsh

Tracy, CA. is a nice bedroom city. I lived there for a number of years and worked there for over 20 years. It has it's issues, but basically I liked the place.

Larry Esquivel was the Chief of Police there for a tad over two years. He had previously been the chief of the San Jose police department, a much larger operation.

Chief Esquivel was sacked by the city manager on Tuesday. No explanation was given publicly, citing "personnel matter" which by law is confidential. Some groups of citizens are already screaming like mashed cats. The Tracy Police Officers Association appears to be fully supportive of their former chief. .

Like most such things I am sure the real reason will leak out soon enough.

Most Chief's jobs are short term employment. Once you hit Lieutenant or above people have their sights on you.
