ROBERT WAGNER REFUSES TO COOPERATE WITH INVESTIGATORS IN THE 1981 DEATH OF NATALIE WOOD

Bruises and scratches on her body lead to new questions about his wife’s death

Last week the LA County coroner changed Natalie Wood’s cause of death from drowning to ‘undetermined.’ The change was brought about because there were unexplained bruises and scratches on Wood’s body.

During the 1981 boating trip near Catalina Island, there were three people on board when she died - Wagner, his wife Natalie, actor Christopher Walken and the boat captain, Dennis Davern. Police investigators at the time concluded that Wagner’s wife had drowned accidentally.

The case was reopened because Davern came forward in November 2011 and told the media that he had lied to police during the initial investigation. He said that a fight between Wagner and his wife led to Wood’s death. "I made some terrible decisions and mistakes," Davern told NBC News. "I did lie on a report several years ago."

Now that the case has been reopened Wagner has refused to cooperate with LA County Sheriff’s investigators. According to the Los Angeles Times, Sheriff’s Lt. John Corina said that "We reached out through his attorney and got rebuffed. We went to his home and he refused to talk to us, and we sent him a letter, so I say it is fair to say he has declined to be interviewed, repeatedly,"

That’s a strange way for someone to act if he is innocent of any foul play. Wagner’s refusal to cooperate in the reopened investigation could lead one to suspect that he kicked the shit out of Natalie Wood and then threw her overboard.

He has nothing to gain by cooperating, and potentially much to lose.
