OBAMA GOT SEVERAL STANDING OVATIONS FROM ISRAELI LEFT-WING UNIVERSITY STUDENTS AND PROFESSORS

Speaking in Jerusalem on Thursday before a carefully selected audience of several hundred Israeli university students and their professors, Obama received several standing ovations. He spent a good part of his speech heaping loads of praise on Israel and the Jewish people, promising that the U.S. would always look after Israel’s security. He told his adoring audience of Israeli left-wingers that "Only you can determine what kind of democracy you will have."

But then Obama also called on Israel to make further concessions to the Palestinians for the sake of peace, disregarding concessions already made over the past 15 years – among them the withdrawal from Gaza and Lebanon – that have proved to be disastrous to the Jewish state. And he criticized the Israelis for the security measures they have imposed in the West Bank.

Obama received a rousing standing ovation when he criticized the Israeli government by saying:

__”But the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and justice must also be recognized. Put yourself in their shoes – look at the world through their eyes. It is not fair that a Palestinian child cannot grow up in a state of her own, and lives with the presence of a foreign army that controls the movements of her parents every single day. It is not just when settler violence against Palestinians goes unpunished. It is not right to prevent Palestinians from farming their lands; to restrict a student’s ability to move around the West Bank; or to displace Palestinian families from their home. Neither occupation nor expulsion is the answer. Just as Israelis built a state in their homeland, Palestinians have a right to be a free people in their own land.”

Obama also criticized Netanyahu’s administration by saying, “Israelis must recognize that continued settlement activity is counterproductive to the cause of peace.”

"Given the demographics west of the Jordan River, the only way for Israel to endure and thrive as a Jewish and democratic state is through the realization of an independent and viable Palestine," was another statement that was received with a rousing standing ovation.

He also told them that, in Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Salaam Fayyad, Israel had a ‘true partner’ in peace. Obama said:

__“Of course, Israel cannot be expected to negotiate with anyone who is dedicated to its destruction. But while I know you have had differences with the Palestinian Authority, I believe that you do have a true partner in President Abbas and Prime Minister Fayyad. Over the last few years, they have built institutions and maintained security on the West Bank in ways that few would have imagined a decade ago. So many Palestinians – including young people – have rejected violence as a means of achieving their aspirations.”

Obama’s audience of young left-wingers and their professors ate up the president’s bullshit.

Abbas has consistently and repeatedly called for the destruction of Israel when giving speeches in Arabic, declaring that there will be only one state, a Palestinian state from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea. And the Palestinian Authority’s official maps of the Middle East have erased Israel and show only a state of Palestine. Furthermore, those young Palestinians - who according to Obama ‘have rejected violence as a means of achieving their aspirations’ – keep celebrating each and every terrorist attack against Israeli civilians.

If Obama is not aware of Abbas’ pronouncements and the PA’s maps, then the President is dumber than a rock.

The audience included Jewish, Christian and Muslim students. I watched excerpts from Obama’s speech on TV news broadcasts. It should be noted that there were a few students who did not stand up and applaud. Most noticeable were the women students that were dressed in traditional Muslim clothing – the “Hijab” head scarf and the “Abaya” (or “Burqa”) outer garment - who kept sitting on their butts without applauding when everyone else stood up and clapped their liberal paws together in adoration.
