A multiple offense drunk driver is facing murder charges out of a March 3 incident in Hayward in which the cops shot his passenger to death.

Arthur Pakman, 23, of Oakley, was driving when the cops tried to pull him over. Shawn Joseph Jetmore Stoddard-Nunez was a passenger in the car. Pakman didn’t want to stop. He sped off, drove and crashed deliberately into one patrol car that had a civilian ride-along in the car. The civilian was slightly hurt in the crash.

Officer Manual Troche fired on the car as it was closing in on him. He missed the driver but shot the passenger, who later died.

Pakman bailed out on foot, but was soon arrested. Three hours after the incident he was still blowing 0.23 on the breathalyzer, which is essentially stinking drunk. Pakman has four prior DUIs over the last five years. He is being charged with murder under the provocative act doctrine, as well as with two counts of ADW and with yet another DUI. Maybe this time the jerk will learn. With luck he will have a long time to contemplate on the error of his ways.
