‘STAND YOUR GROUND’ LAWS

The controversial laws actually benefit the most vulnerable in society

Contrary to what President Obama, Attorney General Eric Holder, Democratic members of Congress and anti-gunners believe or claim, ‘Stand Your Ground’ laws actually provide the most vulnerable in society with a measure of protection from violent criminals.

Appearing on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV, crime expert John Lott Jr. made this statement about the controversial laws:

“Blacks are more likely to be successful in making claims using ‘Stand Your Ground’ than any other racial group. They benefit in many ways. Blacks who live in high-crime urban areas are the people most likely to be victims of violent crime in the U.S. and it would be great if the police were able to protect them all of the time but they can’t. It turns out that having a gun, owning a gun, being able to carry a concealed handgun benefits blacks more than other groups simply because they’re more likely to be victims of violent crime.”

Lott is the President of the Crime Prevention Research Center and author of "More Guns, Less Crime.” He also said that “Women and the elderly, people who are relatively weaker, physically, benefit more from having a gun.”
