This story started in a very mundane, stupid fashion. A motorist in beautiful Stockton reported some asshole brandishing a firearm at him from a car while he was driving along, minding his own business. Cops located the car about 2:45 p.m. and swooped on it. Found three people, guns and weed packaged for sale. (Why would you wave a gun around for no obvious reason when you are carrying contraband in your car?)
Anyway, the longer than average crime report in the paper, lists Eric Ypon, 34, charged with 8 felonies, various drug and weapons beefs, being held pending a bail of $3.2 million. Damarea McKenzie, 18, facing nine felonies, being held pending $3.17 million bail, and Rayniko Flores, 20, being held pending $450,000 bail with five felonies against him. These bail figures are IMHO unusually high. Also it was reported the arrests were made by, or at least credited to, the Port Authority Police.
I am not knocking it, but it does seem a bit odd.
