When the attack on 911 happened my son, Artre was just starting out in the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard was placed under Homeland Security. Volunteers were selected to join high impact deployable teams to protect out nation. Artre was accepted and he was placed in training for MSST which is a SWAT like team for the Coast Guard.

It was later in his career that he joined the tier one MSRT a world wide deployable operations group. The training was grueling. The missions were emotionally and physically demanding.

After 14 years of service, he Honorably retired with a disability rating. He then went to work for several years on a tow boat and holds a Captain's license. His symptoms grew worse and he finally had to stop working and check into the VA Hospital.

Even while dealing with multiple maladies he remains positive and moves forward.

Due to the nature of his disabilities he applied for a support dog. Last week, he was selected to receive this K-9 which he named, "Breacher." The dog's name has something to do with my son's role within the MSRT Special Ops Unit.

We are proud and humbled to announce that we were able to help a long standing member and MSRT Direct Action Section assaulter with his dire need for a service dog. Thank you to Patriot Dog Training and Taos Ford for your amazing support in making this happen. Also, our gratitude goes out to the National Hockey League, and Navy Federal Credit Union for their generous donation from the “Stick Tap For Service” contest, which covered the cost of this service animal. Thank you to all teammates and Brothers for coming to Texas from all over the country to make this happen.

Some people are doers and will risk everything for their country. Both of my son's gave a great deal in the service of their nation. They are true Patriots. I am one proud Father.

First of all, Thanks Howie for posting this blog.

Most people aren't familiar with Coast Guard Special Ops. MSST and tier one MSRT. A little known fact is that even though the Coast Guard is considered military, they are a branch of Homeland Security. The members who are boarding officers are also Federal Agents. The Coast Guard doesn't fall under the rule of Posse Comitatus. The recent video of the take down of a Narco Sub shows a single MSRT member boarding the sub while it was underway. He was a Breacher. If they had not opened the hatch he would have blown it open.

Most local LE doesn't know that these sailors are by definition peace officers. There have been a couple of arrests made that were later thrown out by the courts.
