Anybody of the correct age who spent any time in the CA
delta a while back might remember Lost Isle Resort. It was a party spot
in the delta on an island reachable only by boat. It had deteriorated
somewhat after closing down a few years back due to some fairly serious
violence occurring during the parties there. It was sort of a
second-string den of iniquity that you could be pretty sure the cops
couldn't hit without some amount of warning.

week ago a fire started on the island. There is no fire protection in
that area so it basically burnt out and what was left of the Lost Isle
was pretty much lost to the fire. County fire showed up to protect some
of the nearby islands and property which did have fire protection
services. I strongly suspect the authorities were not sorry to see it
go.
