The huge home builder K&B has just announced a new
development in Escondido, CA. The $1 million + homes are all fire
resistant. This encompasses both the basic design of the house and the
materials used as well as the layout and components of the landscaping
and hardscape. In many places in CA it is now virtually impossible, and
very expensive, to get fire insurance which means it is difficult to
impossible to get a mortgage. This is I believe a notion whose time has
come, especially in CA.
Just
as an aside, ABC news has just done a huge expose on the elected State
Insurance Commissioner in CA. He seems to spend a LOT of time traveling
out of state and even out of the country on the taxpayers dime while
missing a LOT of meetings with legislative committees about the MAJOR
problems in the insurance market in the state. It must be nice to be an
elected official. Who don't have to give a shit about the peons.
