On Tuesday the Dept. of Education laid off 50% of
it's work force. It would seem that Donald Trump, and his new Secretary
of Education Linda McMahon, are not dicking around. I am not sure that
that Department is the biggest money pit in the federal government when
considering money spent and benefit gained, but it certainly is up for
at least an honorable mention.
Trump
wants it shut down. He may get his wish. I had thought that it was
created by an act of congress but I understand it was in fact created by
presidential directive. Presumably then Trump can kill it if he wants
to.
It might not be fully dead by this time next week, but it will be severely wounded, which is fine with me.
