POLICE K-9 KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY

By Bob Walsh

N.C. K-9 killed while taking down suspect, handler also injured
Blitz

On April 2 the Wadesboro. N.C. police department ran a traffic stop on a car with what turned out to be a fake license plate.  The driver sped away from the stop and was eventually stopped by spike sticks.

A fight ensued in which the dog's handler was injured and the dog died, though the suspect was apprehended.

It seems that the dog, whose name was Blitz, was not trained for apprehensions according to the dog trainer, who supplied the K-9 to the department without charge.

The dog's cause of death has not yet been released, nor has the name of the bad guy, who is still in the slammer pending a $60,000 bond.
