Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and New York Gov. Kathy Hochul attend a House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform hearing, Thursday, June 12, 2025, at the U.S. Capitol in Washington

Republican Nancy Mace tore into Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz when he hesitated answering the lawmaker's question about women.

'What is a woman?' asked the South Carolina Republican during a House Oversight Committee hearing with several state governors.

Stunned, Walz sat there without initially saying anything.

'What is a woman is the question here,' Mace clarified.

'I'm not quite sure I understand your question here,' Walz shot back.

'What do you want me to say?' he continued.

Mace then exploded, raising her voice and telling him, 'I want you to say a woman like me is an adult human female. That men can't become women.'

Mace, 47, has crusaded against the expansion of transgender policy in pursuit of what she claims is defending women. This effort has seen her clash with trans people and repeatedly ask liberals to define womanhood.

The reason for the hearing was to address 'Sanctuary Governors' about their state's immigrant-related policies.

Califf answered a range of questions from members of the committee on topics pertaining to several drug-related crises in communities across the country and how U.S. President Joe Biden's administration is handling them.

'You guys are the party of violence and the party erasing women, you don't respect us, you're a bigot, you're a misogynist, you're a sexist,' Mace went on as she tore into the governor.

'Mr. Chairman, I yield back,' she quickly concluded - not giving Walz a chance to respond to her flurry.

Progressive 'Squad' leader Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, whose turn it then was to ask questions, was stunned by the exchange.

'Alright well, that was some kind of Bingo going on over there,' AOC said. 'I don't know what's going on.'

After the diatribe Mace posted about her grilling of Walz on X.

'Tampon Tim Walz couldn’t define a woman today in [committee] when I had him in the pressure cooker,' she wrote alongside a video of the hearing. 'He was speechless.'

Before the outrage over the definition of a 'woman' Mace had also ridiculed Walz for drawing a comparison between ICE agents and the Gestapo secret police of Nazi Germany.

Nancy Mace, who has campaigned to ban trans-women from female facilities around Congress, said the alleged assault was over her 'fight to protect women'

The controversial contrast came during a graduation speech delivered by Walz last month when he likened ICE to 'Trump's modern-day Gestapo.'

'You know that ICE has not committed genocide against anyone?' she asked the Minnesota Democrat.

Democratic New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker also were grilled by the panel over their state's approach to illegal immigration.
