There will be an election tomorrow to fill the
congressional seat for the Tennessee 7th Congressional district, a newly
drawn district. It would normally be a fairly safe Republican seat and
the Republican candidate, Matt Van Epps, is expected to win.
The
Democrat-Socialists have been pouring in money from out of state to
support Aftyn Behn, a ultra-liberal woman who is within 2% of the
polling. The liberals are hoping that the fact this is an off-cycle
election in a newly drawn district will suppress all but the hard-core
liberal vote.
Ms. Behn has
announced that she dislikes Christians, hates country music and really
hates Nashville. The district encompasses a chunk of Nashville.
The
fact that Behn is within striking distance makes a lot of conservative
types nervous. If the good guys stay at home the bad guys may win.
Decisions are made by those who show up.
