Acting yesterday Donald Trump revoked the Biden era
increases in the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (C.A.F.E.) standards for
car manufacturers that sell in the U.S. These standards levy
considerable costs on manufacturers whose average fuel economy does not
meet a certain standard. This program tended to force manufacturers to
produce and at least attempt to sell relatively small, fuel efficient
vehicles that were NOT necessarily what the buying public wanted.
I
would not care to bet how much this will loosen up the auto industry,
increase sales and lower prices but it certainly won't hurt.
