COMPELLING CASE FOR AN ARMED CITIZENRY

WILL SACRAMENTO COUNTY DEMOLISH PROBATION DEPARTMENT?

Sacramento County is in deep financial trouble, and they think that is where they will stay for 2-3 years at a minimum. One of the things they are seriously proposing is the virtual dismantling of the felony probation department.

The proposal would eliminate about 200 jobs in that department, leaving only 11 probation officers, who would be paper pushers. No field enforcement activities of any kind would be performed with that level of staff.
I don't know if this is a "We aren't really going to do this, we just want to panic you into giving us more money" type thing or not. It does not, however, bode well for public safety in Sacramento County.

It's a damn shame the Sheriff is not a big fan of armed citizens. Maybe the new Sheriff will be (but I wouldn't count on it).
