SAN FRANCISCO CRIME LAB PROBLEM OVER
By Bob Walsh

No, not that problem. It still looks like, when all is said and done, they will lose almost 2,000 cases due to a tech that is suspected to using confiscated drugs to support her own recreational drug use. I'm talking about a REAL problem, a blight on the planet, a plague of feral cats.

The non-current case material storage for the S F P D crime lab had become infested with feral cats using the storage building as a latrine and cafeteria, to the detriment of some of the evidence and the overall ambiance of the building.

Assistant Chief Jeff Godown reported yesterday that the cats are gone, having been removed by animal control. All of us (except maybe J-Cat) can now breathe easier, at least if we are dumb enough to spend any time in San Francisco and unlucky enough to be a crime victim there. The cold case evidence of cases that will almost certainly never be solved are now safe.
