Deputies from the Kern County SO Gang Suppression Unit busted two people after finding one of those horrible, evil “assault rifles” and a loaded, high-capacity magazine during a parole compliance check in Bakersfield.

After the search on Quincy St. at about 2200 Friday night the deputies arrested Javier Rodriguez, 34, and Anthony Ochoa, 25. The weapon involved was a SKS rifle, which presumably had been altered to accept removable magazines.

Rodriguez was arrested on a parole warrant among other things. Both were also charged with participation in a criminal street gang.

I wonder why they didn’t just arrest the rifle and let the two criminals go. After all, it is the horrible, evil, disgusting weapon that is at fault and not the people, isn’t it?

EDITOR’S NOTE: The SKS is a Soviet era military rifle that was replaced by the more versatile AK-47.
