NEW YORK -- Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton met Thursday in midtown Manhattan with outgoing NYPD Commissioner William Bratton and other law enforcement officials from around the nation, pledging her support and resources to the men and women in blue who she said make daily sacrifices.

The former secretary of state, in remarks at the start of the two-hour discussion at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, said recent police-involved deaths of black men underscore how difficult it will be to “repair the bonds of trust and respect between our police officers and our communities.”

The meeting’s participants also included NYPD Chief of Department James O’Neill, who will replace Bratton on Sept. 16, and police chiefs and sheriffs from the Seattle, Los Angeles, Tucson, Arizona, and Dallas areas.

“Everyone is safer when there is respect for the law, and when everyone is respected by the law,” Clinton said, adding that she was there to listen. “So we have a lot of work to do together and we don’t have a minute to lose.”

Bratton, after the roundtable, said that good ideas were shared.

“I think a general theme was that there is a great deal of concern about the fear that is permeating the country — fear of crime, fear of terrorism, fear of job loss,” he said. “In terms of law and order, she’s got a lot of experience.”

The commissioner said earlier this month in a TV interview that Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump “scares the hell out of me,” but told reporters Thursday that he would be “more than happy” to meet with Trump on law enforcement, if the candidate asked.

Clinton thanked Bratton, who will take a position at Clinton-linked consulting firm Teneo Holdings, for his “lifetime of service” and welcomed O’Neill.

Trump, who has pitched himself as the “law-and-order candidate” in the campaign, regularly commends and thanks police officers for their work and sacrifices at his rallies.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Clinton’s pledge of support would fall on deaf ears among the rank-and-file after having repeatedly condemned the police for killing black men.

Clinton is a pathological liar. She would like when the truth would serve better, out of force of habit. Why anybody should believe ANYTHING that lying sack of shit says is beyond me. Her ACTIONS, which have been to kick the cops in the ass every chance she gets, clearly speak much louder than her words.

Bob, does this mean you're not going to vote for Hillary?

I wouldn't trust her to watch my dog.

That would be correct Howie. That doesn't mean I will vote for Trump, but I sure as hell am not voting for the Hildebeast.

I wouldn't trust her to watch my dog either, and my dog died 40 years ago.
