Here is my analysis of the election.
Voting for Hillary
The majority of women. They considered Trump as sexist and demeaning of women. And they were looking for Hillary to break through the glass ceiling.
African-Americans. Unfortunately for Hillary, they did not turn out like they did when Obama was on the ballot.
Bernie Sanders supporters. However it appears that many of them did not bother to vote.
Latinos. Trump may have awakened a sleeping giant, but their numbers were relatively small in the battleground states.
College students and graduates. These educated idiots are now demonstrating, and in some cases rioting, on the streets of our major cities.
Gun control advocates.
Recreational pot advocates. But stoners probably couldn’t find their way to the polling place and, if they did, they probably couldn’t figure out how to cast their ballot. (Just kidding - the states with legalized pot went overwhelmingly for Hillary.)
Voting for Trump
Disaffected white working class people. While the rich have gotten richer, the working class has become poorer. Many former middle class families now find themselves on the verge of poverty.
Most law enforcement and military personnel. Democrats are seen as weak on crime and defense..
Most Republicans. Some Republicans stayed home. A very small number may have bolted to Hillary.
Supporters for the right of private citizens to bear arms.
Obama haters and white supremacists. Trump had the unwanted support of David Duke, Klan leaders and other white supremacists. Although small in numbers, I suspect most of them voted.
Voting against Hillary
A significant number of voters like myself cast their ballot for Trump, but they did not really vote for Trump, they voted against Hillary.
