A man has been arrested after Ohio's State Highway Patrol found 71 pounds of marijuana and other drugs wrapped up as Christmas presents in his vehicle.
Daniel Yates, 31, from Eureka, California, was jailed on suspicion of drug trafficking.
Authorities said the drugs were seized Monday on Interstate 80 in Wood County and have an estimated street value of $330,000.
A trooper stopped the rented Ford Expedition shortly after 10am on November 21, for following another vehicle too closely.
'Criminal indicators' led troopers to conduct a search with the help of a drug-sniffing canine.
Investigators found the drugs in 10 gift-wrapped boxes.
The search not only revealed the 71 pounds of marijuana, but there were also 360 THC pills and a pound of hash wax oil.
THC is short for Tetrahydrocannabinol, which primarily creates the psychological effects seen when consuming marijuana.
Yates is being held at the Wood County Jail and has been charged with possession and trafficking in drugs, both second-degree felonies.
He could face up to 16 years in prison and up to a $30,000 fine if he's convicted.
Yates has a court appearance scheduled next week.
