SATANIST INMATE SUES PRIVATE PRISON OPERATOR AND NEW MEXICO DOC

By Bob Walsh.

A former inmate who is allegedly a practicing Satanist and has been since age 13, has sued the Corrections Corporation of America asserting that prison employees violated her constitutional rights by confiscating religious material and prohibiting her from practicing her religion.

The suit, filed by Monica Lujan, names CCA, three of it's employees and one New Mexico D.O.C. employee. The facility where Ms. Lujan was a guest is at Grants. Ms. Lujan was housed there from August 2013 thru August 2016.

She asserts that the Corrections Department told her that the practice of Satanism was prohibited by the D.O.C. She also asserts that she was hassled by the facility chaplain, John Compton, who is named in the lawsuit. She further asserts that when her Satanic material was found a CCA employee confiscated it all, along with legal material, toiletries and other personal items. When Lujan objected she was (allegedly) threatened with solitary confinement.

Assuming that she can establish a good portion of this is true I believe Ms. Lujan will win her case. Furthermore I believe she should.
