One of Donald Trump's most strident campaign promises was to kill DACA. By any reasonable definition DACA is illegal and an unconstitutional reach of power. It is now eight months into Trump's term and he just got around to killing DACA, six months down the road, unless Congress deals successfully with the issue.
Will Congress deal successfully with the issue? I am inclined to doubt it.
Will this satisfy Trump's base, or simply piss EVERYBODY off on both sides of the question. Damned if I know, but it will be fairly fresh good red meat for the off-year congressional elections next year. Time, and voters, will tell the tale.
EDITOR'S NOTE: This happens to be one of the few things I agree with Obama on. It doesn't make sense to deport these people when they were brought into this country in their pre-teens through no fault of their own and who have been employed or are attending schools. Besides that many of them have brothers and sisters who are American citizens because they were born in the U.S.
