Sacramento is a pretty serious sports town. I still remember years ago when there was talk that the As were going to leave Oakland. All three major networks plus the Sac Fox affiliate OPENED their 5 o'clock news with a 4-5 minute sports story, essentially saying that 'THE As MAY BE LEAVING OAKLAND AND THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT IS COMING TO AN END." Really.
In any event it was announced Tuesday that Sacramento and Nashville are getting the two MLS expansion teams, bringing major league soccer to a city that will probably really appreciate it and support the team. All things considered, that is a good thing.

Judging by news reports Wed morning this announcement MAY HAVE been a tad premature, and may in fact be flat-out wrong. It appears that MLS is having some trouble with the consortium that is putting together the arena deal for a Sacramento MLS team. Maybe. Perhaps. Maybe-probably-maybe.
