546 SECOND CHANCES

by Bob Walsh

There were two tragic deaths in West Sacramento, CA a few days back, and a third that was completely reasonable, appropriate and deserving.

The two tragic, pointless, stupid deaths were sisters, age 9 and 12. The other one was their father, who was at the time involved in a custody dispute with the girl's mother. Right after New Years Day he was due in court to answer 546 charges of violation of restraining orders over a period of not quite two years. I guess the wheels turn slowly in Yolo County.

The murderous asshole had the girls for the weekend. Instead of bringing them back to the mother he parked outside the trailer park where they lived and killed the girls, then himself.

I realize that system isn't perfect but if the guy was in violation of a restraining order on average about once per day one would think that they would have figured out he wasn't going to play by the rules by then. So far the authorities are being very closed mouthed about this, probably because they anticipate having their eyeballs sued out. It might be a very real, and fully justified, fear.
