New Zealand bans all military-style rifles and all high-capacity magazines
In the wake of the massacres at the two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand’s prime minister announced that all military-style rifles and all high capacity magazines will be banned effective Aprill 11, 2019.
The government will appropriate $183 million for a buyback program.
Here we have a nutjob who killed 50 Muslim worshipers at two mosques in Christchurch. Since NZ had never experienced a mass murder of this type, the rifle and magazine ban seems to be a knee-jerk reaction.
NZ’s swift response was hailed by gun control advocates here in the United States.
Connecticut was quick to enact some very restrictive gun controls after the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, but why do law abiding citizens have to be penalized for the actions of an occasional nutjob?

I doubt very many will be surrendered.
It takes very little political will to act against an inanimate object, especially if you believe that object to be inherently evil. It takes more political will to look a person in the face and say "You are evil" or "You did an evil thing." Liberal politicians are essentially gutless.
