The FBI is looking into the operations of OneTaste—a sexual wellness company that teaches a practice called “orgasmic meditation”—and whether it pressured workers into sexual acts to help “close sales,” Bloomberg reports. The San Francisco based company has denied any wrongdoing as well as having any contact with the FBI. “We never asked anyone as part of a sale to have sex with customers—it’s a false and outrageous allegation that insults both us and our customers,” a OneTaste spokesman wrote in an emailed statement to Bloomberg.
The company, founded in 2004 by Nicole Daedone, developed the “orgasmic meditation” practice in which a woman’s clitoris is stroked for exactly 15 minutes. OneTaste also sells courses and retreats that can cost as much as $36,000 to teach the practice and sexual wellness. Last month, OneTaste closed all its U.S. offices and stopped offering in-person courses and retreats, saying it is now focusing on online education to reach a wider audience.
Earlier this year, Bloomberg Businessweek reported claims from former OneTaste employees and members who claimed staff and members were ordered to participate in sexual acts with each other “for personal enlightenment and to close sales.”
