I
was watching a BBC produced DVD on 50 YEARS OF JAMES BOND CARS. I
have, so far, found it interesting. It is done by one of the guys from
TOP GEAR, the original crew and not the second stringers.
The
redneck car chase in THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN where the car jumps
the river using a couple of half ruined bridge sections, doing a
corkscrew turn in the process, was the first such stunt (as far as
anybody knows) to be laid out with computer assist. The day before the
jump the stunt driver took off due to a family emergency. The mechanic
that had done the work on the car (among other things moving the drivers
position to the middle of the car to balance the barrel roll jump)
actually drove the car during the jump. Once he was done he asked if he
could do it again.
Completely useless but interesting trivia.
