You Won’t Believe What One Palestinian Man Did to Enter Israel
“It became clear that this was no lady…”
Arab society is overtly chauvinistic. Men hold sway, and women are expected to know their place. But this machismo didn’t stop one Palestinian man from dressing up as his own wife in failed attempt to enter Israel.
The man, whose name hasn’t been released, is a Palestinian citizen of Jordan. Over 60 percent of the Hashemite Kingdom’s citizens are “Palestinian” Arabs.
On Friday he attempted to cross into Israel at the Allenby Bridge that spans the Jordan River, with intent on visiting several locations in the Palestinian-controlled “West Bank.

He later told investigators that he didn’t want an Israeli entry stamp in his own passport, so dressed up as his wife and used her passport.
But Israeli guards at the border immediately noticed something wasn’t right.
“During the security check, suspicion arose that this was not a lady, this was a gentleman,” said the Israel Airports Authority, which also managed land crossings, in an official statement.
The man’s movements were too “masculine,” said another official.
He was questioned and immediately returned to Jordan.
