British pedophile allowed to jet off for pre-paid Greece vacation before sentencing

Alleged pedophile Matthew Thompson was granted permission to go on a vacation to the Greek island resort of Kos
A British pedophile who admitted assaulting two young girls will be allowed to jet off on a week-long vacation to an exotic Greek island before his sentencing, a judge said Wednesday.
Matthew Thompson, 48 — who pleaded guilty to 10 offenses, including assault of a child by penetration and taking indecent photographs — can fly Thursday to Kos for the pre-paid trip, Bradford Crown Court Judge Jonathan Gibson said.
Through his lawyer, Thompson had asked for permission to go to the vacation hotspot before his sentencing on Nov. 18 under the condition that he checks in with police when he gets back, the BBC reported.
Despite Thompson admitting to the vile crimes, the judge said his bail should not be revoked because he was “honest.”
“You’ve pleaded guilty and you will of course get proper credit for your guilty pleas in due course when you’re sentenced,” Gibson said. ”You’ve been on bail and I’m not going to revoke your bail simply because you have entered honest pleas.”
The bail condition requires Thompson, of Barnsley, England, to register as a sex offender before he leaves and report to the Barnsley police after he returns home on Oct. 27.
Gibson called the crimes — which included multiple assaults on two unnamed minors — “extremely serious” before allowing him to fly to the island paradise, according to the UK Independent.
“As you know, you are now subject to the sex offender registration provisions and you’ll need to report to the police to do that before you go,” Gibson said.
