Dalits in India
As usual the formerly great state of California is
working on a fairly bizarre warm-and-fuzzy peace of legislation to
enable various members of the legislature to virtue-signal their
wonderfulness.
State
Senator Alisha Wahab, who you MUST know is the first Muslim and first
Afghan American elected to the state legislature, introduced the bill on
Wednesday.
Her proposal, which I can't find a reference number on yet, would outlaw discrimination based on CASTE within the state.
It
seems that as far back as 2020 (ancient history I guess) the state sued
Cisco Systems asserting that a Dalit (low caste) engineer of Indian
descent was discriminated against because of the caste system. In
another case a woman, Tanuja Gupta, quit her job with Google News after
she was hassled for inviting Thenmozhi Sundararajan, the founder of
Equality Labs, a Dalit advocacy group, to speak. The talk, scheduled
for Dalit History Month (April), was cancelled. Hell, I didn't even
know there was a Dalit History Month.
Go Dalits.
