Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene says "Joe Biden’s gun free school zones have endangered children at schools leaving them as innocent targets of sick horrible disturbed people ever since he worked as a Senator to pass this foolish law."

 

Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has taken to Twitter to call for more guns in schools following the horrifying attack on the Covenant School in Nashville on Monday.

The US representative for Georgia yesterday called the shooting 'another absolutely horrific, needless tragedy' as she rallied for better protection of children 'like precious stones' in schools.

She wrote: 'Children and school staff should always be protected the same way politicians, money, precious stones, and gold are protected, but even more so, by good guys with guns.'

She added: 'Joe Biden’s gun free school zones have endangered children at schools leaving them as innocent targets of sick horrible disturbed people ever since he worked as a Senator to pass this foolish law.'

The comments follow the killing of three nine-year-olds and three members of staff after former student Audrey Hale, 28, opened fire at the Tennessee private school on Monday.

 

                        

 

Hale was shot by responding police officers, leaving a total of seven dead from the horror shooting.

In the tweet, Taylor Greene called for Biden 'and Democrats' to 'give up their Secret Service protection and put themselves on the same level as our unprotected innocent precious children at school.

'School shootings should NEVER happen and will end immediately when our nations [sic] children are defended the same way Joe Biden is by good guys with guns.'

There have been 13 school shootings in 2023, with six children killed in total and four adults or employees losing their lives. 

"MTG" has been a staunch defender of second amendment rights in the wake of recent mass shootings.

After the Colorado Springs shooting at Club Q last November, she snapped at Biden over calls for an assault weapons ban.

She wrote on Twitter: 'Banning "assault weapons" will not stop a transgender [sic] from shooting up his own LGBTQ community or any other murderer already breaking laws to kill people.

'More gun control laws just create more defenseless victims.'

As in the case of the Nashville shooting, the suspect is alleged to have used an assault-style weapon and a handgun to carry out the attack, authorities said. 

Audrey Hale opened fire at The Covenant School, shooting and killing Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs and William Kinney, all aged nine. 

It's unclear what Hale's motive was, but police believe they attended the school at some point. 

Hale had detailed hand-drawn maps of the school and had been surveilling it, according to police.

'We have a manifesto. We have some writings. We have a map drawn out of how this was all going to take place,' Nashville Police John Chief Drake said. 

Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs and William Kinney, all nine-years-old, were killed in the attack.

Staff members Cynthia Peak and Mike Hill, both 61, and school head Dr. Katherine Koonce, 60, were also shot dead.

Drake said Hale and no criminal history and that police did not know of any history of mental illness.

A school friend of the suspect said in a DailyMail.com exclusive interview that 'no one saw this coming' and that Hale was 'sweet and funny'.

A 9 millimeter pistol was also being carried by the shooter during the Monday murders

 

Last year, Marjorie Taylor Greene made headlines in the US and Britain after telling a reporter from the UK to 'go back to your country' in a heated debate over gun control laws.

'We like our [guns] here,' she said. It was noted the majority of voters supported tighter gun laws at the time.

Following the Uvalde massacre, 65% of polled voters supported gun reform.

'Our children aren't scared to go to school,' the London-based journalist sniped. 

'You have mass stabbings, lady. You have all kinds of murder and you've got laws against that,' she said.

Reporter Siobhan Kennedy snapped back on Twitter: 'There are no “mass stabbings” in the UK. Yet here kids are frightened to go to school?’ 

Britain ranks #191 in the world for stabbing death rate, with 0.08 per 100,000 people, and #189 for gun death rate, with 0.04 per 100,000.

The US ranks #114 globally for stabbings and #32 for gun death rate, with 0.6 and 4.12 per 100,000 respectively.

This year, the US has suffered 132 mass shootings and is on track to endure its worst year in history.

In total, 63 children have been shot and killed in the US as a result of gun crime this year.
