THIS COULD HAVE SOME NEGATIVE CAREER IMPACT

Sgt. Michael Cruz of the San Diego Sheriff's Dept. blew thru the gate at Coronado Naval Base late Friday night while drunk.  The gate guards (presumably Marines) fired on him and slammed the base.  He was arrested shortly after and charged with DUI.  He was booked into San Diego County Jail and later released.  He is currently on paid administrative leave pending further investigation.  He has been with the S.O. since 2006.  

Since nobody was hurt his career MAY survive assuming he has no priors for "drunk and stupid" behavior.  He may, however, be on impound lot security for the rest of his career.
