McMullin with a Porsche while driving drunk
A glamorous trader's wife who mowed down a
man on a first date in her Porsche 911 Carrera has blamed the fatal
crash on the road.
Kristina Chambers, 32, hit Joseph McMullin, 33, while he was walking on the sidewalk with Briana Iturrino, 32, after a night out in Houston, Texas, at 2.25am on April 20.
Horrifying
footage showed her $100,000 supercar careen off the road and into
McMullin before smashing into a pole at around 100mph. She was allegedly
four times the drink driving limit.
Iturrino said she never thought Chambers - who is
the unemployed wife of wealthy Texas trader Xuan Si - would be able to
make the corner due to the speed she was traveling. But
Chambers, who was left in a wheelchair following the horror crash,
claimed through her lawyers in court that the poor road conditions
caused the incident.
Kristina
Chambers crashed her Porsche at 2:30am in Houston, driving
at 100mph while four times over the alcohol limit. She hit Joseph
McMullin (pictured), killing him instantly
Briana Iturrino, who was on a
first date with McMullin, recounted the horrific tragedy and said: 'He
didn't deserve to go like that, he didn't deserve to go now at all.'
Iturrino said she met McMullin on dating
app OK Cupid and they spent the evening at a karaoke night before
walking to a nearby doughnut store. As they strolled along the sidewalk,
Chambers allegedly sped down the narrow road and lost control at a
curve, striking McMullin.
'Immediately
it was where's Joe,' Iturrino said. 'I thought he was on my left I
didn't realize he was on my right. And then it hit me how close the car
had been to hitting me.'
'I knew she was not going to make that curve, I knew she was going to come up on the sidewalk,' she said.
Iturrino added: 'He didn't deserve to go like that, he didn't deserve to go now at all.'
Chambers,
who was driving with an unidentified male and female passenger,
appeared in court on Wednesday charged with intoxication manslaughter.
She
had been drinking heavily, and was four times over the legal limit, it
is alleged. Chambers failed to make a curve in the road and smashed onto
the sidewalk, instantly killing McMullin.
McMullin,
an audio technician and music lover, and Iturrino had initially planned
to meet on a Friday night, but she said the Karaoke Tuesday event
'seemed like a great idea'.
She said
after the event, they planned to get food and McMullin 'asked if I
wanted to take my car, and I said well it's not that far, we can walk,
fresh air.'

McMullin's body was flung 30 feet from the wreckage in the impact of the crash
The three passengers inside the Porsche all survived, although the man was unconscious
Briana Iturrino said they had been at a karaoke bar and went to get donuts when he was hit
'I had the thought that we should hop into
the parking lot in case she came up on to the sidewalk and I couldn't
act on that thought before it came at us so fast,' said Iturrino.
'I was on the phone with 911, they wanted me to try to CPR. I knew it wasn't going to be a good idea to roll him over.
'Someone
came over and they checked his pulse for me, I was too stunned to move.
They said it was very faint. I was staring at him and they said you
don't need to be looking at him, just turn around and I did but I also
didn't want to not be paying attention to him.'
She
added tearfully: I can't believe he's gone, and I watched it and also
not being able to believe how close it was to almost being me.
'I
wish I would've gotten to know more about him. We'd been texting for a
few days so I got to learn a little bit about him from those, I know
that he loved his family.'
She told
police she saw a flash and then tried to find McMullin. McMullin, whose
body was flung about 30 feet from the wreckage, died at the scene.
Chambers careered the Porche into a post.
The
passengers in the Porsche were not reported to have suffered serious
injuries although the male was unconscious when taken from the scene.
Chambers was charged on Monday, and appeared in court on Wednesday.

Chambers
entered the 339th District Court on Wednesday still visibly injured
from the crash, in a wheelchair with her arm in a sling.
Her lawyer, Mark Thiessen, said Chambers broke her leg and clavicle in the collision.
He
told the court she was not guilty and cited poor road conditions on
Houston streets as the reason Chambers lost control of her vehicle.
Thiessen described Chambers as unemployed and noted for the court that her husband is the sole provider.
Assistant District Attorney Kelly Marshall told the court Chambers' actions were criminal.
'There
was a lot of alcohol in her system,' Marshall said, adding that traces
of suspected drugs — possibly Adderall and cocaine — were also found in
her purse.
Chambers told police that she drank a beer at 9:30pm but nothing else until the crash.
Judge Te'iva Bell ordered that Chambers be held on a $50,000 bond and prohibited her from driving unless she gets a job.
McMullin was remembered by his family as a kind and loving brother and uncle
Chambers is required to install a landline at her home to show that she is abiding by those conditions.
McMullin's family paid tribute to a doting uncle, music lover, and kind soul.
Born in Houston, he graduated from Stratford High School and later Houston Community College.
His
mother Lynn, father Chris, younger brother Matthew and his wife Anna
all recalled him as someone with a true love of life and a huge number
of friends.
'Good people are drawn to
good people, and Joe had nothing but great people supporting, loving,
and cheering him along,' his obituary states.
'Life can be hard at times - he never gave up and always did the right things to persevere.
'He
ran half-marathons, paved his own path to vegetarianism, and was secure
enough to attend concerts alone, often arriving way too early so he
could be front of stage. He lived life so courageously.
'He was passionate about music, the arts and entertainment, movies, social justice, and most of all, people.
'You
could find Joe at a local record shop, concert event, or theater
production multiple times a week. He enjoyed all genres of music and his
record collection reflects it.
'Joe
enjoyed food, from trying his hand at new fun baking recipes, to cooking
vegetarian dishes, to his love for Taco Bell. Joe also loved a cold Dr
Pepper (or two, or three).'

At four times the legal limit there is no way that woman didn't KNOW she was hammered. I hope the system hammers her.
