'You can't fool an elephant': Woman attacked by giant tusker after she teased it with a banana

The elephant was seemingly angry that the woman was playing games with him 

 

NEW DELHI, INDIA: A woman was attacked by an elephant in India after she teased the big creature with a banana. The woman who is not named, initially held a banana at the elephant's mouth but pulled back just as he opened his mouth to gnaw. The young woman smiled dreamily at the intelligent animal as she drooped the fruit in front of her.

 

The elephant clearly saw right through her and did not waste a single moment as he swung his trunk and tusks, hurling her through the air. The giant tusker was wise enough to understand that the woman was trying to trick him, and thus attacked her and also scared the person behind the camera to recoil in terror as the individual dropped the camera.

'You can't fool an elephant'

The woman could be heard saying, "how cool is he?" just before the attack. Susanta Nanda, an Indian Forest Service Officer who often shares engrossing wildlife content online, shared the footage of the incident on social media. "You can't fool an elephant even though he is tamed," he captioned the post. Nanda further added, "They are one of the most intelligent animals to be in captivity."

'Elephants are the most dangerous'

The video garnered several responses from users and many seemed to be concerned about the woman's health. One Twitter user tweeted, "True, many tourist people taking elephants for granted like a pet dog,,it can take your life in fraction of second,, a wild animal is always wild." Another tweeted, "Elephants are the most dangerous thing in the Indian jungle, when you calculate their spread/numbers/intelligence/strength. I always roam in and around jungle, and these are the ones i keep an eye for.. And always stay at least a 100 meters from them when and if i see them." One user wrote, "Well we have to give respect to the king of forest & stay away from his presence, the real king who made the forest with tons & tons of trees." "She must have suffered several fractures," wrote one. Whilst, another tweeted, "Elephants are very intelligent and wise animals. Something must have disturbed it."
