Aderrien Murry, 11, described the moment he was shot in the chest by Mississippi police after calling 911 during an interview with ABC News
Aderrien said the bullet 'felt like a Taser, like a big punch to the chest' and said he thought he was going to die
Indianola, Mississippi police officer Greg Capers, accused of a shooting an 11-year-old boy in the chest after he dialed 911 for help, has been suspended without pay
Massive disclaimer here. I have only heard one side of this story. It could be bullshit, But it sounds real.
Aderrien Murray, 11, was in a deep sleep at about 0400 when he was awakened by a loud argument between his mom and the father of one of her other children. It got loud and nasty and his mom, Nakala Murry, told the crumb snatcher to call 911. He did. Two Indianola, Mississippi police officers, one of them Greg Capers, arrived at the scene in a reasonable amount of time. Aderrien walked out of the bedroom with his hands raised above his head. Then Officer Capers shot him in the chest.
The situation is muddied up by the fact that the mother refused to open up the door when the cops showed up, allegedly at the suggestion of her father. The cops attempted to break into the house. At some point Ms. Murry left the house to talk with the officers. It isn't clear from the news reports if the officer was inside or outside when he shot the kid, and it isn't clear if the kid was inside or outside when he was shot. \
I admit to being puzzled why she would ask the crumb snatcher to call the cops and then refuse them entry. At the time it appears the argument was being conducted thru a window to the house and the baby daddy was NOT inside the house and NOT attempted to force an entry, but that is a little fuzzy. The baby daddy has declined comment to the media.
It is a mess. One thing for sure the cop is going to have a hell of a time justifying shooting an unarmed 11-year old.
EDITOR'S NOTE: Than God the cop who shot this boy was black. Had he been white, there would have been riots all over the country.
