Gregory Rodriguez, 55, was formerly a "prison guard" (correctional officer) at the California State Womens Prison Chowchilla, Madera County. He is now facing 96 charges of rape and sodomy levelled by 22 prisoners.
Rodriguez came under investigation 10 months ago and was placed on administrative leave pending investigation. He resigned while on leave.
The state is so far taking the attitude that they have zero financial liability for the (alleged) rapes. The lawyer representing many of the victims thinks that is bullshit.
Rodriguez is denying all the charges. He could theoretically get about 300 years if found guilty on all counts. He is still a guest of the county as he has had trouble coming up with the $7.8 million bond. I can't imagine why.
