A man helping ducks cross a road in Rocklin was struck and killed by a driver on May 18, 2023.
On Thursday evening a man stopped at the intersection of
Stanford Ranch Road and Park Drive in Rocklin (Sacramento area) CA to
escort a family of ducks across the road. Traffic stopped for him even
though it is a major intersection on two multi-lane roads. He got the
ducks across the street safely. People applauded. People cheered.
People took cell-phone video.
Then a car being driven by a 17-year old girl hit him so hard it literally knocked him out of his shoes. He died.
The accident is still under investigation. The ducks all lived.

A few years ago, in my town of 22,000 folks two kind ladies stopped on a Hwy in an attempt to gather two stray dogs. Both were hit and killed by a driver as they chased the dogs into a moving lane of traffic. The driver was not charged. The dogs ran off. There are two lit crosses on the side of the Hwy that are attached to a solar panel. I believe a nearby fire station maintains the memorial. RIP.
