U.S. District Court Judge Karin Immergut has ruled that
the recently passed Oregon "gun control" laws are in fact
constitutional.
The law,
passed very narrowly by a vote of the people, bans ammo magazines of
more than ten rounds and requires training to get a permit in order to
buy a gun.
Judge Immergut
asserted that the law lines up with "the nations history and tradition
of regulating uniquely dangerous features of weapons and firearms to
protect public safety." She further asserts that "large capacity"
magazines "are not commonly used for self defense and are therefore not
protected by the Second Amendment." She further asserted that "The
Second Amendment also allows governments to ensure that only
law-abiding, responsible citizens keep and bear arms."
The ruling will certainly be appealed almost immediately.
