The Stockton Unified School District, which is in deep kimchi after years of gross mismanagement and apparently some outright thievery, got a letter last week telling them that the district is on the "high risk status" list, which I gather is something like "double secret probation."
Among other things the district is being required to hire a "permanent and qualified" chief business officer and must cooperate with assorted oversight and investigative bodies that are giving them a serious look-see.
The Calif. Dept. of Education also reserves the right to take "any other enforcement action" that it may deem necessary.
It is completely possible the district will be placed in receivership due to its long history of financial chicanery and incompetence and it's apparent unwillingness to get their shit together.
