THE PITFALLS OF APPOINTING YOURSELF TO BE THE FASHION POLICE

By Bob Walsh

A Utah 'Karen' who pulled down a teenager's mini skirt in a steakhouse after claiming it was indecently short has been charged with sexual battery

This little morality play ran itself out in St. George, Utah on Saturday night in a Sakura Japanese Steakhouse.  Ann Lorenzo, 48, who is apparently a state civil service employee, was offended by the mini-skirt being worn by another customer, a teen-age girl, waiting to be seated.  Ms. Lorenzo said out loud that if she had to look at the girls ass cheeks hanging out of her skirt she was going to call Child Protective Services.  (The girls is in fact 19, though Ms. Lorenzo asserts that she thought the girl was a minor.)  She then walked up to the girl, grabbed her skirt, and attempted to pull it lower to cover her butt.  Ms. Lorenzo is now facing sexual battery charges.

Ms. Lorenzo actually being arrested occurred on Wednesday.  Her arrest was apparently preceded by a posting of the video on the internet and allegedly some threats made via the net against Ms. Lorenzo.  Ms. Lorenzo also asserts that she believed the young woman was not wearing any underwear and her public hair was exposed.  The young "victim" of the sexual assault asserts that Ms. Lorenzo is talking out of her ass.

Ms. Lorenzo was booked into the Purgatory Correctional Facility in the city of Hurricane.  Damn, those Mormons are good with names, aren't they.

The cops talked both to Ms. Lorenzo and the victim prior to making the arrest.  Ms. Lorenzo is no longer in custody though it is not clear if she was simply released OR or bailed out.

Assuming you have power and authority that you in fact DON'T have is perilous.  As Ms. Lorenzo is about to find out.
