Inmate escapes on golf cart in Galveston
Rearrested after short pursuit

A 60-year-old inmate escaped on a golf cart while working in the continuing skills area
near the Galveston County Jail on Monday.
Galveston County Sheriff Henry Trochesset said Shawn Marvel Cleveland was going
to wash a golf cart when he hopped in and took off.
A deputy followed him for 8-10 blocks and rearrested him at 52nd and M 1/2.
Cleveland was charged with escaping while arrested and was given a $100,000 bond.
He was already in custody on a drug charge and a burglary charge.
Between the three charges, his bond total now sits at $200,000.
