BOEING BACK TO WORK

By Bob Walsh

737 MAX aircraft are seen in various states of assembly at the Boeing 737 factory on June 25 in Renton, Wash.

The Boeing assembly line machinists signed off on the current contract offer at the recommendation of the union leadership.  They got a very nice raise, 38% over four years, bringing their salary up from an average of $75k per year to an average of $125k per year at the end of the contract.  They really WANTED their old, defined benefit pension package back.  Unfortunately those are pretty much extinct except for government employees.  After turning down the earlier offer I guess they decided to take what they could reasonably get after seven weeks.

Boeing will never fully regain public trust.
